Addresses too hard to read along Bluemound, reader says
Issue: A reader complained that the street numbers for buildings along Bluemound Road are difficult to read and present a danger when drivers are looking for an address while driving. She wants to know if there is an ordinance regulating the size of building address signs.
Status: Larry Goudy, zoning and building administrator, told me the code requires address numbers on freestanding signs to be at least 6 inches tall.
Goudy said building numbers placed directly on the building do not have a specified standard size requirement, but according to the municipal code: "All owners or occupants of buildings shall display their address number in a conspicuous place on the building, visible from the street."
