Woman accused of using knife to fend of store employees

A 28-year-old Milwaukee woman accused of brandishing a knife during a theft at Burlington Coat Factory last week was arrested for armed robbery, obstruction and possession of stolen property.

City of Brookfield police officers responded to the store, 12575 W. Capitol Drive, about 5:05 p.m. July 27 after store personnel reported that the woman attempted to leave without paying for $74 in merchandise. According to the police report, employees followed the woman out of the store, where she said she had a gun and threatened to shoot the employees; she never displayed the weapon.

After the woman got into her car, she took out a steak knife and again threatened employees, the report states.

Officers took the woman into custody. Authorities found $58 in merchandise from Marshalls in the woman's car, according to the report.
