The Common Council has honored a former Brookfield official for his more than 20 years of service to the city.
Dean Marquardt, who served the city in several roles before his retirement last week, was honored in a brief ceremony at City Hall.
Marquardt started with the city in 1988 as an electrical inspector. He also served as director of inspection services, chief of staff, facilities director and most recently as director of administration.
In a proclamation read into the record, Common Council president Mark Nelson praised Marquardt, a lifelong Brookfield resident, for his work on several city projects, including the remodeling of City Hall, the construction of the city's Public Works building, and the relocation and construction of Brookfield's two new fire stations.
The city will not hire a replacement to fill Marquardt's position. Rather, his responsibilities will be divided up among existing city staff members.
