Public Forum:
I am a parent concerned with quality education. I am a homeowner concerned with property taxes and property values. And after talking with Beth Horneffer, candidate for Elmbrook School Board's at-large position, I am convinced Beth is exactly what the Elmbrook School District needs. I share with you four reasons why I fully support Beth Horneffer for School Board and why you should as well:
• Informed. Beth is informed on the issues and is attentive to the diverse perspectives of community members. Her knowledge comes in part from having three children enrolled in Elmbrook schools. From matters ranging from 4-year-old kindergarten to the high school class ranking system, Beth is prepared to make decisions only after analyzing costs and benefits to the district's students and residents.
• Skilled. The district faces tough decisions and needs skilled problem-solvers on its board. Beth qualifies. For 14 years as a pediatrician, Beth spent her days analyzing facts, assessing options, researching data and providing solutions. The logic and analysis Beth employed as a doctor translates directly to her capacity to tackle sophisticated matters of curriculum and finances.
• Experienced. Beth's commitment to the district is long standing. Beth served as a member of the Five Year Financial Plan Committee and is a leader in Burleigh Elementary School's Parent Teacher Organization. Beth works directly on matters of curriculum, which she views as one of her strengths.
• Focused. Beth recognizes that the many decisions the district faces cannot be determined exclusive of one another. The issues are intermingled. Beth's goal is a balanced budget that supports the rich and diverse curriculum that has been the hallmark of an Elmbrook education.
If excellence in education is a goal you share with Beth, support her with your vote April 6.
