Vote for Wilson for School Board on April 6

March 24, 2010 | 0 comments

Public Forum:

Our community is blessed with good schools. Having had our children in Elmbrook schools for seven years before moving out of state, we relocated back to Brookfield for one overriding reason: quality of education. Not everyone has the background or desire to help guide the future of Elmbrook schools, but we are so pleased that Kathryn Wilson is running. Her knowledge, experience and commitment would be a valuable addition to the Elmbrook Board of Education.

Graduating from a nationally recognized college preparatory school and Michigan State University, Kathryn has firsthand knowledge of what academic excellence is and how to achieve it. As a parent of four, she is familiar with the broad spectrum of teaching and learning in our schools. Next year, she will have children at all three levels, with abilities ranging from gifted to special needs.

Kathryn has served as a volunteer in our schools and at the district level for several years, and she has the necessary experience to be an effective member of the Board of Education. Serving on the Curriculum Planning Committee, Class Rank Committee and the Gifted and Talented Parent Advisory Board (chair), Kathryn is involved at a level that sets her apart from the other candidates. Her relationships with parents, staff, administrators and board members will enable Kathryn to hit the ground running.

What has impressed us the most is Kathryn's commitment to Elmbrook schools. She will strive to maintain the integrity of programs and services while enhancing instruction and learning. Kathryn understands the issues, needs and opportunities, which will greatly benefit the board.

We are all brought back to a recurring theme that never seems to be questioned: Education is the key to our children's future success. And from our perspective, Kathryn Wilson is critical to that success.
