Allgaier has strength to lead in difficult times

Public Forum:

I'm writing to encourage you to join me in voting for Dr. Glen Allgaier as the Area II representative in the April 6 School Board elections. If ever anyone deserved our support to continue serving the students and families of Elmbrook, it's Glen.

Over several years, I worked with Glen and other members of the School Board to find a workable, long-term solution to keep Fairview South School open. Some wanted the school closed; others, like me, were committed to keeping it open. Glen's position was unknown - a "swing vote" that could decide the fate of FVS.

The way Glen approached this decision was exactly the way you would hope all important issues would be considered. With an open mind, he listened, analyzed and questioned the many alternatives. He evaluated the options from a financial as well as a student perspective; then he decided.

While I was impressed with the fair and methodical way in which he dealt with the issue, what leads me to write this recommendation is the character of the man I saw. Once he made his decision, and articulated the reasons for all to hear, he stuck to it, never wavering. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Dr. Glen would make Dr. King proud. He's a kind and gentle man, polite to a fault, who represents the interests of all students.

The district faces many challenges, but we're fortunate to have a man of Glen's caliber committed to helping guide us through these most difficult times.
