Public Forum:
I don't know if the other candidates for Elmbrook School Board's at-large positions are qualified, but I do know who is: Kathryn Wilson.
I've known "Katy" 11 years - we have two sets of children who are friends/classmates. We've discussed topics from kindergarten through college planning. We've sat through many meetings together, some chaired by her. I've always been impressed by her ability to take information, sort through it, and identify and focus on the heart of the issue.
With four children at different age and ability levels, Kathryn has a broader perspective than most parents. She's interested in results, but also values the process. She advocates for her own and others' children.
Kathryn doesn't hog the spotlight or preach, but she knows when to step in to make an important point or raise a key question. She can skillfully navigate local and statewide policies, regulations and statutes. If I've got a question, she's the one I ask. She also understands our administration. Kathryn doesn't expect immediate resolution, but does expect that key concerns stay at the top of the agenda. She doesn't settle for a pat answer, a brush-off or being ignored, and she won't expect you to either.
I know Kathryn is a great fit for the board, with years of active experience in our district and many more coming. She's seen the successes, knows what's still lacking, and won't leave "well enough" alone. There's always room for improvement, and she's the key to that room. Vote for Kathryn Wilson Feb. 16.
