CVS, Half-Priced Books among stores filling center

Four new tenants filling vacancies

Feb. 24, 2010 | 0 comments

Three months after a Hooters restaurant filled one of the many vacancies at the former V. Richard's Plaza at Bluemound and Calhoun roads, several more businesses are making plans to open at the center in the coming months.

CVS Pharmacy and Half-Price Books have occupancy permits and are actively working on their job sites, said Larry Goudy, Brookfield's zoning and building administrator.

CVS, which will move into the former V. Richard's grocery store on the west side of the shopping center, is expected to open this spring, but no official date has been set, said Chery Schiller, senior property manager with Inland Commercial Property Management, which operates the center.

Half-Price Books, which will occupy the former Harry W. Schwartz book store that closed in spring 2009, plans to move into its new location by mid-July. The existing Half-Price Books store at the Brookfield Fashion Center on the north side of Bluemound Road will close when the new store opens.

Two other stores - the Lang outlet store and Fashion Xchange - also are filling some vacant sites at the shopping center, which has changed its name from V. Richard's Plaza to The Plaza.

The Lang outlet, which sells gifts, calendars and stationery products, is open now and has plans for a grand re-opening March 26. Fashion Xchange, a resale store that buys and sells gently used brand-name clothing for boys and girls, will be buying clothing starting Sunday and will have a grand opening celebration March 12.

Schiller said that aside from the four new stores, there are no other new businesses slated to move into The Plaza any time soon.

"That's it for right now," she said.
