Schellinger missed forums for work, county duties

Jan. 27, 2010 | 0 comments

Mayoral candidate and Waukesha County Supervisor Thomas Schellinger was unable to attend the first two mayoral forums held for the Feb. 16 primary, and he said work conflicts and his obligations to the County Board were responsible for his absences.

Schellinger, an automotive salesman, informed organizers of the Jan. 20 forum that he could not attend because of a work conflict. Schellinger said there have been reductions at his work place, making it more difficult to take time off or adjust work schedules.

On Tuesday, the night of the forum sponsored by Brookfield-Elm Grove NOW and the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, Schellinger had a County Board meeting. He said he considered it a "dereliction of duty" to miss that, even it if meant not being able to attend the mayoral forum.
