Student talent helps make Christmas at Inn shine

Dec. 29, 2009 | 0 comments

Public Forum:

For the second year in a row, local music students have donated their time and talents to the community. Wisconsin Hills Middle School music teachers assisted the Elmbrook Historical Society with our annual Christmas at the Inn. The event took place Dec. 5 and 6. It is held at the Dousman Stage Coach Inn Museum on Pilgrim Parkway.

Mr. Ben Leon brought orchestra students to perform. Mrs. Stephanie Nichols brought some of her chorus students. Mr. Phil Rothschadl followed up with some of his band students. All the musicians volunteered to perform. Many of the students worked among themselves to choose appropriate music and to rehearse their performances. Solos, duets, trios and quartets performed in the Inn's dining room and ladies' parlor. We all enjoyed the beautiful music the kids brought to the Inn.

At the 2008 Christmas at the Inn, Swanson Elementary and St. John Vianney and St. Dominic's music teachers brought some of their students to the Inn. It is a wonderful way for our local music students to give back to the community. The music programs in our schools are definitely an asset for all of us.

In addition to these children, many others donated to the event. Private collections of bells, antique Christmas ornaments and feather trees were on display. A bell choir, keyboard player, dulcimer and guitar music, and a wonderful bake sale made for a beautiful holiday event. Local businesses donated to fill our silent auction baskets.

The Elmbrook Historical Society would like to thank everyone who donated time, talent and materials. Please join us again next year!
