To celebrate 25 years of honoring Women of Distinction, the Women and Girls Fund held a celebration recently in Waukesha. In 1985, the YWCA of Waukesha County initiated the annual naming of Women of Distinction.
The Women and Girls Fund was created by the Waukesha County Community Foundation in 2004 with remaining endowment funds following the closing of the YWCA of Waukesha County.
Honored at the recent gala were the women who were named Women of Distinction over the past 25 years, those named Young Women of Tomorrow and the Families of Distinction.
Chairing the event were Lillian Boese and Sandi Wietzel, board members of the Women and Girls Fund of Waukesha County. Honorary event chairwomen were Beverly Chappie and Marilyn Baus, who founded the Women of Distinction of Waukesha County awards. Mistress of Ceremonies was Betty Arndt, a trustee of the Women and Girls Fund.
Chairing the planning committees were Arndt, Baus, Boese, Chappie, Sally Furlong, Wendy Harris, Mary Knudten, Dorothy Krupa, Kay Lettenberger, Laraine O'Brien, Renee Ramirez, Patsy Reichert, Nancy Richards, Vicki Schroeder, Tracy Shilobrit and Wietzel.
