Longtime resident to run for mayor

Nov. 4, 2009 | 0 comments

Another Brookfield resident has declared his intention to run for mayor of Brookfield this spring.

Roger Bielinski, 45, joins School Board member David Marcello as potential opponents to incumbent Mayor Jeff Speaker, who is seeking his re-election to a second term.

Bielinski, a longtime resident who is currently taking courses in computer science, said he wants to focus on helping residents and making government "fair and equitable for all people, taxpayers as well as the businessmen."

Candidates in December can start gathering signatures to get their names on the ballot for the April 6 election.

The mayor, who is elected to a four-year term, will make $99,149 a year through 2012, with 2 percent increases scheduled in 2013 and 2014.
