Nov. 2, 2009 | 0 comments

The average number of students absent due to flu-related symptoms was below 5 percent at most Elmbrook schools during the past two weeks, according to district attendance reports.

Between Oct. 19 and 28, only Burleigh Elementary saw more than 10 percent of its students absent due to flu-related symptoms. During that time, Burleigh's daily absentee rate due to flu symptoms ranged from 8.4 percent to 16 percent. At Brookfield Elementary, an average of 6.3 percent of students was out with the flu during the same two-week period.

At all other district schools, flu absences were below 5 percent of the total student population.

Brookfield Central High School was the healthiest building during the past two weeks, with less than 1 percent of students absent because of the flu on any given day.

Overall, the average number of daily absences in Elmbrook schools during the two-week period was 197, a 32.8 percent increase over the same period last year.
