Kevin Pasqua knows firsthand about the tangible and intangible worth of LearningRx - whose program, he says, changed his family's life.

"A few years ago a member of our family was having difficulty in school," said Pasqua. "We chose not to go the traditional route, which can result in medication, a label, and not a lot of improvement. Instead, we went to LearningRx, which looked at the root cause of the problem rather than treat the symptoms. The result was a more efficient learner, no more attention issues and - what's meant the most to me - improved self-confidence."

Pasqua felt so strongly about what LearningRx can offer that he left a longstanding corporate career to become the owner and executive director of LearningRx Milwaukee, the third such franchise to operate in the state and the first in southeast Wisconsin.

"Unlike a tutoring service that re-teaches content learned in school, LearningRx focuses on developing cognitive skills, using an initial assessment test that allows us to pinpoint exactly where a client is struggling and build a program to tackle it," said Pasqua, whose wife, Jill, heads a team of eight certified trainers.

LearningRx's training program, according to Pasqua, carries out its individualized programs with personalized one-on-one instruction for clients ranging from students who are having difficulty in school, to combat veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries and senior citizens battling early on-set Alzheimer's.

The program, he said, also helps clients who are diagnosed with learning disorders, such as dyslexia, Asperger's syndrome and attention deficit disorder (ADD), improve their brain function.

"Depending on a client's goals, a program can last anywhere from eight to 36 weeks," Pasqua said. "Frequently, the results are dramatic. Forty percent of individuals who've come to us on medication for ADD are off that medication for good upon completion of their program.

"That's the beauty of LearningRx. We always perform a free assessment on clients a year after they leave us and they always retain their cognitive skills. Once cognitive weaknesses are strengthened, they're yours for a lifetime."
