Dirk Mlachnik has joined Diversified Insurance Services as a risk consultant in the agency's Risk Services Group in Brookfield. Mlachnik has more than 20 years of insurance and risk management services experience, most recently with the Starr Group. He has won numerous awards and received recognition for his consultative approach and business results. Mlachnik will report to the recently-appointed President of Diversified's Risk Services Group, Chris Lie.

Diversified Insurance Services is made up of more than 70 professionals who provide counsel, expertise, tools, services and products to business owners and organizations throughout the state in the areas of employee benefits and wellness programs, business insurance and risk management.

Jim Cantrell, founder and owner of Brookfield-based Financial Strategies, Inc., has been elected as president of the Midwest region for the National Association Personal Financial Advisers.

In this new role, Cantrell will serve as the liaison for the entire Midwest region, which includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. In addition, he will represent the Midwest region on the National Board of Governors for NAPFA.

Cantrell has more than 22 years of experience in financial planning and investment advising.

John Wandsnider, a 1982 Brookfield Central High School graduate, has been named vice president on the board of directors for IIW, P.C. - Engineers, Architects, and Surveyors in Dubuque, Iowa. Wandsnider, who now lives near East Dubuque, Ill., is the project manager and municipal engineer for the company. Wandsnider has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from UW-Platteville. In his position at IIW, P.C. - Engineers, Architects, and Surveyors, he helps area communities in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois with their water distribution, wastewater collection, storm water management and street and roadway improvements needs.

Len Roecker has been promoted to director of municipal services at R.A. Smith National, a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm in Brookfield.

Roecker started with the firm in August 1999 and has more than 25 years of experience in serving municipal clients. He is involved in project work among Southeastern Wisconsin communities and serves as municipal engineer for the village of West Milwaukee, village of Greendale and town of Salem and works extensively with Kenosha County. Roecker will continue to serve his clients as their primary contact. He has extensive experience in utility design and construction, transportation facilities design and construction, and surveying coordination for municipal projects.

Roecker has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He is a registered engineer and a registered land surveyor in the state of Wisconsin.

Roecker lives in Muskego.
