Santa will visit Home Exteriors by Callen

Home Exteriors by Callen will host Santa Claus from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at its Sendik's Towne Centre location, 19115 W. Capitol Drive, Suite 102.

Children 11 and younger accompanied by an adult can visit with Santa and take a picture, enjoy free refreshments and create a holiday ornament keepsake to take home. Sendik's Towne Centre goody bags will be provided to adults. Bring a camera as photography services will not be available. The event is free.

Police Department offers firearms training course

The Elm Grove Police Department will offer a training course that will satisfy the legal requirements to apply for a concealed-carry weapon license in Wisconsin from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at Village Hall, 13600 Juneau Blvd.

This course will be presented by certified firearms instructors from the department. No firearms or ammunition, except those brought by the instructors, will be permitted in class. This course does not involve live firing of weapons. A presentation and handout materials will be provided.

Each student will be required to demonstrate the safe unloading techniques for a pistol or revolver. Students also will be required to score at least 80 percent on a multiple-choice exam with 25 questions.

The course fee is $75; payment is due with the application.

To obtain a license after successful completion of the course, an applicant must be 21 or older and a Wisconsin resident, not prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law, not ordered as a condition of bail or release in a criminal case from possessing a dangerous weapon and provide proof of firearms training.

Gallery to feature artwork of five Wisconsin artists

The Dooryard Gallery, 890 Elm Grove Road, will present the "Out of the Woods" art exhibit through Jan. 12.

The exhibit features a variety of woodcraft by five Wisconsin artists.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and by appointment.

Humane society accepts reservations for gala

The Elmbrook Humane Society will hold its sixth annual Wine and Whiskers fundraising gala, "New York, New York," from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 16 at Westmoor Country Club, 400 S. Moorland Road.

The event will spotlight wines from around the world and feature silent auction items.

All proceeds will benefit the Elmbrook Humane Society, the only no-kill animal shelter in Waukesha County.

Tickets are $75 per person or $700 per corporate table of eight. Reservations are recommended but not required.
