Inger Anne Spurrier (nee Wold) of Brookfield died June 16, 2009, due to complications from cancer.
Inger, a daughter of Norwegian immigrants, was born on April 20, 1936, in Des Plaines, Ill. She was raised in Peru, Ind., and Trondheim, Norway. Inger graduated from Indiana University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech therapy. She married Burton on Aug. 17, 1957. Inger and Burton lived in Ohio, New York and Kansas before settling in Brookfield in 1967. They raised their three children in Brookfield.
Inger was very active in Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was a member for 42 years. She worked as a volunteer at Luther Manor for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Burton; children, Gregory, Lauren and Barbara; daughter- and sons-in-law, Patricia Spurrier, Michael Fox and Tom Edwards; brother, John; grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica and Lindsay Spurrier, Charlie, Sam and Jack Fox and Bryn and Zoë Spurrier Edwards; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brynhild and Odd Wold; and sister, Ruth Maxon.
A funeral service will be held on July 11 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1750 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield. Pastor Ted Youngquist will lead the service. A family visitation will be held at the church starting at 10:15 a.m. A luncheon at the church hall will immediately follow the service.
