Edgar M. Rolland died from cancer May 9, 2009, at age 89.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He received the Purple Heart and the French Croix de Guerre with Palm Leaf. He was a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 449 in Brookfield with 50 years as member of the Honor Guard.

Rolland is survived by his children, Karen (David) Koehn, Barbara (Bill) Trick, Marjorie (Michael) and Keith; grandchildren, Lisa Zaboklicki, Tracy (Diane) Charno, Troy (Cindy) Charno, Sonja Koehn, Neil (Sara) Koehn, Nathan Trick, and Rachel and Jill Rolland; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Zaboklicki, Mackenzie, Michael and Maxwell Charno, and Wyatt Koehn; special friends, Joanne Groseclose, and Milt and Babbet Charno.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle (nee Omilie).

The funeral service was May 13. Interment and honors were at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Memorials to the American Legion Post 449 Honor Guard are suggested.

Becker Ritter Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
