Laura M. Polas and John T. Kocher of Wauwatosa were married Sept. 29, 2012, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa.
Parents of the bride are Larry and Ruth Polas of Tinley Park, Ill. The groom's parents are Colleen Toohey of Brookfield and Thomas Kocher of Waterford.
The Rev. Steven Pagels officiated the 10 a.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Bartolotta's Lake Bistro in Milwaukee.
The bride wore a taffeta lace halter dress with beaded appliqués adorning the bodice and skirt and a chapel train. She carried a bouquet of white oriental lilies, white dendrobium orchids, scented stock and Italian ruscus.
Elizabeth Polas Huber of Lemont, Ill., sister of bride, was matron of honor. Maggie Liceaga of Tinley Park was usherette.
John Lampe III of Wauwatosa, best friend of the groom, was best man. Ushers were: Christopher Huber of Lemont and Nicholas Polas of Tinley Park.
The bride earned her bachelor's degree in business management from Purdue University in Indiana. She is a registered associate in the financial industry in Milwaukee.
The groom earned his bachelor's degree in education from St. Norbert College in De Pere. He is a preschool teacher in Milwaukee for a nationwide nonprofit organization.
The couple planned a one-week honeymoon in Negril, Jamaica.
The groom proposed to the bride on Christmas Eve 2011.
