Maureen McGinn, Leah Mierow and Michelle Zealy of Brookfield made the fall semester dean's list at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
Madeline Bunke, daughter of Mark Bunke and Joyce Young of Brookfield, appeared as Helena in the production of Henry Purcell's baroque opera "The Fairy Queen" at Lawrence University in Appleton in March.
Tom St. Peter, a senior from Brookfield at Marquette University in Milwaukee, participated in a weeklong service trip over spring break as a part of the Marquette Action Program. He traveled to Montgomery, Ala., and volunteered at Resurrection Catholic Missions. Also, Matthew Yerkes, a junior from Brookfield, traveled to New York City and volunteered at the Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies.
SCHOOLSCENE
Ruth Regent-Smith of Brookfield, a teacher at Pius XI School in Milwaukee, has been named a 2012 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellow. Fellowship recipients are chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Each fellow's school will receive a $1,000 grant.
SERVICENEWS
Air National Guard Airman Joseph D. Stirn graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Stirn, the son of Diane Wood of Brookfield, earned distinction as an honor graduate. A 2005 graduate of Brookfield East High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in 2009 from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
