El Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) Celebration

To Mexicans the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) represents something more than just remembering their loved ones no longer with them.  It is also an opportunity to poke fun at the ever gloomy "Grim Reaper."  It is an opportunity to visit the family plot and to display beautiful and very creative pieces of popular art with very specific accouterments that fill markets and popular shops all over Mexico.    In the meaning the Day of the Dead is a celebration that in may regards may be considered very close to Memorial Day in the US or Remembrance Day up north in Canada.  It is a day set aside to honor the departed, although in the Day of the Day the memorial is dedicated to honor any and all dead nor just those fallen during military service La Casa Community Center—www.lacasadeesperanza.org
