Amazing video animation of inner life of cell & DeYoung REPORT
WOW! Watch this video animation of cell functions related to leukocyte extravasation or "the mechanisms that allow a white blood cell to sense its surroundings and respond to an external stimulus". (Translation: How your body gets the germ fighting white blood cells to where they are needed.)
Most of us won't understand it all*, but you will get a sense of how intricate our cells and body are. My favorite section was at about the 3:50 minute mark where a motor protein literally walked up the microtubule (at 3:20 mark), hauling a huge membrane bound cargo vesicle to its destination! (David Bolinsky, one of the animators, called it the FedEx guy of the cell. It is called a canesan, but I am not sure of the spelling.) Truly amazing.
This video clip came from Dr. Mercola's website and was produced by The Howard Hughes Medical Institute. In other words, it has no connection to Christianity, Creation Science or the Intelligent Design movement. It was produced to help cellular biology students understand the workings of the cell. (I subscribe to Dr. Mercola's website because I am interested in Natural Medicine. His website is not Christian based however, therefore some info I accept, some I reject.)
Yet, when you watch all the intricate steps of just getting a white blood cell to the location it is needed, it is pretty obvious those steps were all designed and orchestrated--they couldn't happen by accident.
The last section of the video shows how the leading edge of the rolling white blood leukocyte flattens and spreads at the proper spot, allowing it to slip through the space between the endothelial cells, escaping the blood vessel wall to get to the site of infection.
If all of what we see and are is the product of random chance--evolution--how did those early organisms survive infection? How did those early cells exist without these complex, well orchestrated, mechanisms?
Since both Evolution and Creation require faith, I think it was a lot easier to believe in evolution when cells were thought to be simple structures seen under primitive lenses and microscopes in the 1800s. But once the electron microscope came on the scene, we then became aware of the complex anatomy and physiology (structure and function) of these supporting cellular structures, the human genome, and on the physical side of science, the sub atomic level of atoms.
I believe the more we are able to see into these tiny worlds, the more complex we will find them: the mechanisms featured in the video will have their own minute support structure. Dr. DeYoung also stated his belief in the intricacy of the unseen world yet to be discovered.
And that brings me to my REPORT on Dr. Don DeYoung's seminar on Design From Nature last night. He was a dynamo of information and presented it in a lively manner.
He informed us that scientists and inventors are looking to nature for ideas. They even have a name for this: bio-mimicry: the discovery and application of designs found in nature.
Dr. DeYoung started with the very small: Diatoms (Look at link to see structures). These are tiny, rather geometric structures that are part animal and part plant, and they live everywhere. Why are we interested? Because scientists have found if they plate them with metal, they can use them in nanotechnology as gear and sieve parts! We can't make things this small but Nature can.
Did you know the Pentagon is looking to the cuttlefish, with its ability to turn on and off dyes beneath their skin, to make camouflage clothing and paint that will do the same? Or how corn's natural fiberoptics inspired the fiberoptics we use today for communication, the beech leaf's folded structure inspired the solar collectors used on satellites, or the boxfish's design was the inspiration for Mercades/Diamler Chrysler's 84 mpg European concept car.

We are all free to believe what we wish to believe, but as our ability to observe the inner workings of cells, atoms, and systems, I believe it will take more faith to believe in evolution than in Creation or at least Intelligent Design. It is your choice. At least be open minded enough to look and consider how this could all just happen by random mutation and accident.
*I admit I am a bit of a science and medical geek, but I think it will be fascinating to many of you just the same. I was able to follow much of the video; studying homeschool biology in 2005 definitely helped!

Creation Science Seminar: 'Answers Conference', November 16, 17, 2012, Brookfield, WI
Ever wonder if the book of Genesis is relevant today? What about dinosaurs, did they ever live with man? Is the earth really millions of years old or is it young? Does the rock and fossil record back up either claim? Have they ever found the remains of an apeman, or can we really believe there was an Adam as the Bible teaches?
If you do, you are not alone. These questions trouble many Christians today.
Dr. Terry Mortenson and Tim Chaffey, two well known Creation Science speakers from Answers in Genesis, will address these questions and more at the Using God's Word for the World's Questions ANSWERS CONFERENCE, this Friday evening, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17. They will teach a biblical and scientific defense for the Christian faith and give new insights into our past.
The two-day Answers Conference is sponsored by the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee and Brookside Baptist Church. It is designed to equip Christians with the facts necessary to defend the foundational truth of the Genesis account in the Bible. It will also show that the basis for evolution is not founded in rocks and fossils but rather in an anti-biblical worldview.
In addition to conducting about 250 conferences such as this one each year, Answers in Genesis founded the high-tech CreationMuseum in Kentucky, which opened to international acclaim in 2007. Its outreaches also include an award-winning web site, Answers magazine and the Answers radio program.
Hoping, praying for a Chick-fil-A kind of election day
In 2010, JT Harris asked the crowd of about 150 people waiting to see US Senate candidate Ron Johnson at the Waukesha County Republican Headquarters, How many of you are asking God for one more chance to turn this around? My hand shot up as did most in the room.
At the time, we had no idea how that 2010 midterm election would change the course of our state and nation. Nor did we have any idea how much worse things would get in the 2 years that followed.
Who could have envisioned our national debt hitting $16 trillion? Or unemployment never falling below where we started in 2009? Who could have predicted President Obama disregarding the 1st Amendment with his attack on Catholic hospitals? Or the Dream Act immigration reform by fiat? And the list goes on and on. The election hasn't even concluded and the President is killing off the coal industry through the EPA. A ban on fracking for oil won't be far behind. No legislation, just regulation.
So as the polls report Romney is ahead--no, it's Obama, I'm praying it will be a Chick-fil-A kind of election day.
Remember back in August, how people stood in lines that wrapped around the block, just to buy a sandwich to show support for Chick-fil-A? The fast food company's CEO had made a statement against gay marriage and was suffering some backlash for it. So Mike Huckabee cooked up a "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" to affirm a business that operates on Christian principles, by eating at the restaurant. And appreciate they did! Some customers that day were gay but joined in because they believed in free speech. The public had finally had enough, and they voted with their pocketbook to show support, with record breaking sales and crowds.
Well, I'm hoping for much the same in voter turnout for Romney and other conservative candidates today. I'm praying for an election day where voters, in record numbers, go to the polls and vote for the founding values our country was built upon.
People are praying about this election, and its not just superficial. There is a sense of urgency here. Two friends of mine each emailed me how they were praying about the election. (Neither know each other and we are of different faiths.) One wrote, "I'm praying a couple of times a day (yes, me!) that America find a clear path to Her future Tuesday." Another emailed, "I voted early for him - now I've got everything crossed & praying daily (hourly!). Here's hoping!"
By 10 PM Tuesday, we should have some idea which way the election will go. It has been a long 4 years. .
Christian, don't sit this election out, vote God's values
It is estimated that between 17 to 30 million Evangelical and self identified Christians did NOT vote in 2008. I know many conservative Christians (I know several) voted 3rd party in 2008, because they believed voting for the lessor of 2 evils is still evil.
Candidate Barack Obama won that election by about 10 million votes over opponent John McCain.
If we want our Republic as One nation under God to survive, this cannot happen again.
But what does a Christian do if they feel they cannot support Barack Obama or Mitt Romney, because they "don't agree theologically" with either one?
Dr. Greg Huffman, a pastor at Brookside Baptist Church, addresses this extremely important question in his 2 part radio program entitled: Why Is Our Country So Divided? PART 1 and PART 2 I urge you to listen to each 13 minute broadcast in its entirety.
IIn Part 1, Pastor Huffman eases the Christian's dilemma by clarifying, "we're not electing a pastor, we're electing a president." The real question becomes, "So who can do the best job leading our country, with all the conflicting ethical and biblical issues at stake?" He goes on to say that fifty years ago, there wasn't a "whole lot of difference between the platforms of the two major parties". But today, there is a stark difference. The issues involved are morally and ethically worlds apart which reveal totally differing views of human life and the institute of marriage.
Then he outlines how the Obama administration has already chipped away at our religious rights by appointing an "EEOC Commissioner [Equal Employment Opportunity Commission] who asserts that society should not tolerate my private beliefs, including religious beliefs, if they may negatively affect homosexual equality... Then in May of 2012, that same administration opposed legislation to protect the rights of conscience for military chaplains who didn't wish to perform same-sex marriages. ...They said, sorry, you must perform same-sex marriages. Then in June of 2012, Bibles for the American military, that had been printed ever since the American Revolutionary War, all of a sudden could no longer be printed with the military service emblems on those military Bibles."
"We are in a battle for the ethical values and biblical values of our country. ...The issues are of interest and concern to the Lord." Huffman then warns that God will give up on a nation if they are promoting sins such as fornication, adultery, and homosexuality.(Romans 1:24-25, 26-28 ) "God has said that He gives up on a nation when we consider that we can make all the rules and become totally anti-God."
"We, as a church, need to be concerned about allowing God be God, but our country needs to allow the church to preach and teach the same message. That's why these are ethical and biblical principles that we are facing in the election today."
In Part 2, Dr. Huffman recaps Part 1 [my summation] Why are we so divided as a country? Basically it is a division in philosophy and therefore, it is a division of politics. For Christians, their foundation, their worldview, is based on the principles of the Bible. For a non-believer, that foundation is anything but the Bible. So our election is basically a worldview test.
Then Dr. Huffman discusses other things that cause God to give up on a nation, such as the shedding of innocent blood (2 Kings 24: 1-4) in abortion. Psalm 106:36, 41 speaks of those who sacrificed their children to idols. "And God gave them into the hand of the heathen, and they that hated them, ruled over them." As a consequence for their sin of child sacrifice, God allowed other nations to come in and defeat His people, because they were the shedding innocent blood of their children.
"Our country today is so involved in a battle of pro-life and pro-choice." This is indeed a moral conflict between anti-God philosophies and worldviews and pro-God philosophies and worldviews."
"God designed government to keep order in society" (Romans 13), and we are to "be subject to higher powers for there is no power but of God, and powers that be [local authorities/government] are ordained of God."
Dr. Huffman concludes, "When you vote, you will be taking a test, a worldview test, and that will tell so much about your theology, God or anti-God, biblical truth or humanistic lies... May the Lord give you wisdom and give you courage to take a stand for that which is right against that which is wrong. Let's reestablish the moral foundations upon which this nation was founded."
Many other religious leaders and groups, from Billy Graham's full page newspaper ads, to the Catholic church, to Evangelical Christians such as Ralph Reed and James Dobson, are making the same plea: vote for biblical values this November.
It is vital that we support all candidates who support God's values, the biblical principles our nation was founded upon. If we don't, we will find ourselves under Democrat leadership, the party that tried (unsuccessfully) to scour any reference to God from its party platform, the party that openly supports homosexuality and same sex marriage, and the party that advocates murder of the unborn at any time through abortion. Remember that Senator Obama voted 4 times to withhold comfort care to aborted babies who survived the abortion!
So, you see, this election is too important to vote 3rd party or not vote at all. We, His people, must vote to support His values.
Hear some Good News! Missions Week: Oct. 24 - 28, 2012
In a world that is constantly bombarded with bad news, it's good to take a break from that and hear something positive for a change. This week at Brookside, you have the opportunity to be encouraged and learn about what is going on around the globe during our A Heart for the Harvest missions conference.
The conference features 5 missionaries, working on 4 continents: North America (Mexico), Europe, Africa and Australia. (I would love to give you more details, but in a world that persecutes Christians for sharing the gospel, I can only urge you to come hear it for yourself.)
This year's mission theme song is titled For the Sake of His Name, by Anderson and Habegger. It opens with the command: Go to the world...to every nation. The 2nd and 3rd stanza sum up the Good News of the gospel that is for all of us:

What can Christians do for our nation? Pray!
Many of us do pray daily for our country and leaders, as directed in 1 Timothy 2:1-3:
"The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” The Message translation
But if you haven't been in the habit of praying for our leaders and this election, Minister and author Max Lucado is urging those of us who believe in the God of the Bible to join him in 40 Days of Prayer For the USA, starting today until the election on November 6th. He also offers a pledge page if you would like to join with other like-minded people. (Only first name and last initial is made public).

On Sept. 11th, my first thank you goes to God
Eleven years have passed since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and in those 11 years, our world has become a much more dangerous place: Iran is working on becoming a nuclear power, the Arab Spring is now controlling once tourist friendly Egypt, the entire middle east is in upheaval. Yet despite this increased unrest, our nation has been kept safe from additional terrorist attacks.
Today, Gov. Walker, Mayor Tom Barrett and other area officials gathered at the War Memorial to honor the Sept. 11 victims, which is appropriate. Similar gatherings all across our nation will occur today.
A September 11th radio ad this year samples Americans and what they plan to do to in remembrance of this day. One says they will say thanks to a firefighter, another a policeman, etc. Volunteering is another option. These are all well and good, but for me there is one glaring omission: thanking God for His blessing of protection.
As I wrote in 2008, reflecting on our Sept. 11th experience out in South Dakota, "Our nation held its collective breath, waiting for something else to happen after those first 4 plane crashes. Thank God, it didn't.
Jerry Frye on Origins, Beauty, and Wrath: Why What We Believe Matters Today, April 24, 2012
On Tuesday, April 24th, Jerry Frye will once again be the featured speaker at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting, at Brookside Baptist Church in Brookfield. His topic is Origins, Beauty, and Wrath: Why What We Believe Matters Today.
Jerry is an Elm Grove business executive and also a very popular creation science speaker here at home and around the world. On Tuesday evening, "Jerry will delve deeply into a subject he has been exploring for his audiences in recent years -- why our beliefs matter. He will survey such topics as the origin, organization and pervasive nature of information: the origin of order and beauty, and the wrath of abandonment that results when we suppress our innate knowledge of our Creator."
I have heard Jerry Frye speak at past CSSM meetings and also teach Sunday school classes. He is an engaging and thought provoking speaker.
The April 24th CSSM meeting will be held at 7:15 pm in Brookside Baptist Church's auditorium. Brookside is located at 4470 North Pilgrim Road in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This event is free and open to the public.

Can Science point to God?
Find out on Tuesday evening, March 6, 2012 when the Lutheran Student Fellowship of UWMhosts a debate between 2 college professors on opposing ends of the origins spectrum: Intelligent Design vs. Darwinism.
This is truly a rare opportunity, because it is very difficult to find a professor (science or other) willing to defend evolution / Darwinism in a debate format.*
But Dr. William Bristow, Professor of Philosophy at UWM, is willing. He will debate Dr. Angus Mengue, Professor of Philosophy, from Concordia University
The debate will take place at 6:30pm at UWM's Student Union (just east of Maryland Ave. on E. Kenwood Blvd.) in the Wisconsin Room -2nd floor. The event is free and will have a Q&A afterwards. Don't miss it!

*The Creation Science Society of Milwaukee, the group I am affiliated with, has been trying to line up a debate between one of their speakers such as Dr. Jerry Bergman and an evolutionist for months now. Like other creation groups, we have not been able to find a science professor willing to do it.

Former evolutionist Paul Frank discusses Creation/Evolution debate Nov. 29, 2011
Many people think the Creation Science movement is just made up of Christians who ignore the scientific evidence. Well, that thinking will be challenged by Paul Frank, this month's Creation Science Society of Milwaukee speaker.
Paul Frank offers an interesting perspective on the Creation/Evolution debate, since he graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh with a B.S. in biology and a minor in chemistry. But even more noteworthy than his scientific background, is the fact that he began his college years as an agnostic and devout evolutionist!
From the CSSM Newsletter: "[Paul's] evolutionary beliefs were challenged when a friend presented him with a book entitled Studies in Creation by Dr. John Klotz. The book piqued Paul’s interest and the next book he read on the subject, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, marked a watershed moment in Paul’s life. The theory of evolution seemed implausible to him after reading that book. Incidentally this was the same book that Lehigh University biochemist Michael Behe read that turned him from his evolutionary beliefs and resulted in his seminal work Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution. To this day Behe’s first book remains a benchmark for the new ID movement." (My emphasis)
Paul Frank will approach the Creation Science / Intelligent Design movement vs. Evolution from a scientific, bio-chemical viewpoint--that genetic entropy (deterioration) rules out progressive macroevolution (major changes occurring over a long time), and "the necessity of DNA and proteins arising at the same time. He will also present a formidable argument against chemical evolution using probability statics."
In layman's terms, mutations cannot account for changes necessary for large scale evolution (one cell animals to humans or even fish to amphibian), because we now know that mutations just take away or repeat code that is already written. We also now know that new genetic information cannot be spontaneously added by chance, because that is mathematically impossible--the sequencing is far too complex for chance.
As you might have guessed, this presentation will be more technical in nature and is intended for adults.

Jay Seegert discusses Evolution: Probable or Problematic, Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, 7:15pm
This Tuesday evening, Jay Seegert will examine the question many people have: Is evolution probable or problematic? - a brief look under the hood. In other words, does the theory of evolution stand up to closer scientific scrutiny?
From the Creation Science Society website:
"Jay developed this lecture after he attended a high-powered, invitation-only 3-day BioInformatics symposium at Cornell University this summer.
"Jay will demonstrate that various aspects of evolution actually seem fairly plausible to many people, including Christians. For example, a fish slowly turning into an amphibian… with the fins being slightly modified into short legs/feet and being able to crawl up on land and breath air. So from a certain distance or vantage point, things can appear to be quite plausible or look very good. However, when you “look under the hood” you see a completely different picture.
"In this talk, Jay will “take a look under the hood” regarding what actually has to happen genetically in order for a single cell organism to change into a human being. He will show how DNA works and point out a serious problem with the concept of evolution. By the end of the lecture, the audience sees how utterly impossible molecules-to-man evolution really is, even though portions of their story occasionally seem plausible."
Jay Seegert has degrees in Physics and Engineering and is also the Co-Founder and Principal Lecturer for the Creation Education Center of Wisconsin. He recently became the Ambassador for Logos Research Associates and joined The Third Rail, a project of the Biblical Worldview Broadcast Team. Jay served as the President of the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee for 3 years. Though I have not met Jay Seegert before, I have heard he is an excellent speaker.
This month's meeting* begins at 7:15pm at Zion Lutheran Church N48 W18700 Lisbon Road, in Menomonee Falls (at Lisbon Rd. and Brookfield Rd.).
Last February, Dr. Scott Hardin addressed this very issue. And while we can morph pictures of fish into amphibians fairly easily, adding the DNA genetic code necessary to change from gills to lungs, 2 chambered heart into a 3 chamber heart, or adding the vascular, musculoskeletal, and nervous systems necessary to accommodate these changes is impossible.
*Due to a scheduling problem, the Institute of Creation Research speaker was unable to come to Wisconsin for this October meeting.
National Day of Prayer: Meet at Brookfield City Hall Plaza, May 5th, 12:20pm
Thursday, May 5, 2011 marks the 60th Annual Observance of the National Day of Prayer, where people all over our country will meet at school and city flagpoles to pray for our nation.
This year's theme is A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD and the verse is from Psalm 91:2 "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Whom I trust."
I will be heading to the City of Brookfield's Plaza flag area (just north of City Hall) from 12:20pm to 12:40pm to pray for our community, state, nation, schools, leaders, servicemen, churches, and more. Hopefully, I won't be alone, but will meet others who who have come to pray for our country.
The National Day of Prayer website had this brief history of prayer in America under the heading Why Pray?:
"Prayer has always been used in this country for guidance, protection and strength-even before we were a nation or a handful of colonies. The Pilgrims at Plymouth relied on prayer during their first and darkest winter. Our founding fathers also called for prayer during the Constitutional Congress. In their eyes, our recently created nation and freedoms were a direct gift from God. And being a gift from God, there was only one way to insure protection-through prayer. "
Several years ago, their website gave this account of prayer in America: “The National Day of Prayer is a vital part of our heritage. Since the first call to prayer in 1775, when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation, the call to prayer has continued through our history, including President Lincoln's proclamation of a day of "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" in 1863. In 1952, a joint resolution by Congress, signed by President Truman, declared an annual, national day of prayer.”
I have attended several other N.D.of P. meetings at Brookfield's City Hall Plaza* and found them to be an encouraging experience. Hope you will venture out and join me in praying for our country.
*Note: Meeting at City Hall Plaza is NOT a City of Brookfield activity. It is just citizens exercising their right to free speech in a public place..
A blessed Good Friday & Easter to you
Though the word Easter and even some non-religious Easter Bunny themed events have come under attack by the P.C. crowd this year, Good Friday through Easter or Resurrection Sunday still mark the most important 3 days of the year for a Christian. It is during this time that we remember the crucifixion, sacrificial death, and burial of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and then celebrate His resurrection on Sunday.

Doesn't everyone want a little love and respect?
The Apostle Paul in the Bible tells husbands to love their wives and wives to respect their husbands in Ephesians 5:33. Two short little commands that are often difficult to carry out.
And because husbands and wives often stumble in these 2 areas, Elmbrook Church is holding a Love and Respect Marriage Conference with Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, the author of the book Love & Respect, this Friday, April 8, from 6:45pm - 10pm and Saturday, from 8:45am - 1:30pm. If you are thinking this is one of those marriage conferences aimed at what men do wrong, think again. I have heard good things about both the conference and the book from my own pastor and from a girlfriend who attends Elmbrook. She told me that Dr. Eggerichs recently spoke at their church and was very funny. He uses many humorous examples to illustrate his points and is pretty even handed when it comes to helping each of the sexes see where they could improve how they relate to their other half.

Hear Dr. Bergman on 'The Dark Side of Charles Darwin', March 8th
College professor Dr. Jerry Bergman will present a 2 part talk The Dark Side of Charles Darwin at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 8th, at 7:15pm. This month's meeting will be hosted by Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 3030 W. Oklahoma Ave, in Milwaukee.
The first part deals with some of the dark details of Darwin's life such as:
•Charles Darwin’s major goal in developing his theory was religious, he wanted to "murder" god (his words).
•He was active in "converting" all he could to his theory of origins.
•Darwin plagiarized most of his major ideas.
•Darwin was a racist of the worst kind and believed the lower races (the blacks) would go extinct.
•Darwin was opposed to helping the sick, but realized this idea would not go over well.
In Part 2, Dr. Bergman will explain "Atheism as it is found in the teachings of science", and "why the creation view of Origins is so important in this day when the media and public education disallows any view other than evolution to explain how all life has come about in this world of ours."
•It is well known and well recognized that evolution is the doorway to Atheism.
•A major reason given to become an Atheist was evolution.
•The whole point of the evolution creation account is to demolish the theistic creation account.
•It takes more faith to be an Atheist than a Creationist.
•Dr. Bergman will cover the Atheist creation story as developed by Hawking and others to document this.
It isn't often that we have a speaker with his level of experience. Dr. Bergman "has taught biology, genetics, chemistry, biochemistry, anthropology, geology, and microbiology at the college level for over 30 years. He has 9 degrees, including 7 graduate degrees, and has authored over 800 publications" including a book by the same title The Dark Side of Charles Darwin".
Interestingly, though once an Atheist*, "[Dr. Bergman's] examination of the scientific evidence for evolution led to ... Christ! ", which is why "case studies show clear evidence that many university officials and faculty are deeply afraid of intellectual freedom on this subject".
I am looking forward to hearing Dr. Bergman speak on this subject. If you are interested in Origins and Charles Darwin, I urge you to attend too.

Brookfield's Dr. Scott Hardin, "From Fish to Amphibian, a Practical View" Tuesday, 7:30pm
Ever wonder how a fish could evolve into an amphibian? While they both begin their lives breathing through gills under water, the amphibians soon leave their tadpole days behind as they mature. They not only develop legs, they also develop air breathing lungs. Toads and salamanders go on to live on land near water, and frogs live primarily in the water with occasional trips to Terra firma. How could 2 such complicated anatomic changes occur by chance?
Dr. Scott Hardin will discuss this question in his presentation, "From Fish to Amphibian, a Practical View" at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee meeting on Tuesday, February 8th, at 7:30pm. This meeting will be held at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, N87 W16171 Kenwood Blvd., Menomonee Falls.

"A review will be made by Dr. Scott Hardin of some of the assertions made by proponents of the concept of evolution and he will challenge the validity of the same using acceptable laws of science, logic and common sense. Both evolutionist and creationists start with the statement, 'In the beginning...' It is what follows that creates divergent views."
"Dr. Scott's talk...will be about the anatomic changes that need to occur in order for the fish ancestor species to transform into the first amphibian, with special emphasis on the cardiopulmonary systems. He will explain that there is no way for the changes to occur from a genetic standpoint, and if there is no way for the fish ancestor organism to acquire the necessary DNA, then it is impossible for the fish to transform into an amphibian."
And it is that additional DNA code that presents the problem for evolutionists. Unlike Natural Selection that results in reducing the code, such as only long haired dogs* surviving in very cold climates (long haired dogs possessing less genetic information than the original wolf kind pair or even from a genetically mixed group of long, medium, and short haired dogs), adding legs and lungs to a fish means also adding vast amounts of complicated DNA coding.
I am looking forward to Dr. Hardin's talk. Dr. Hardin** presently is the Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services for St. Luke's Hospital and serves as Vice Chief of Staff 2010 - 2011, and then Chief of Staff 2012 - 2013.

Although I would like to have all believe, this is not my goal, for no one convinces anyone to faith. My concern is for the believer who thinks the Bible is at odds with science. If these people take the time to educate themselves, they will find they do not have to check their brains at the door to believe in the Genesis account.
Creation Science Conference in Brookfield January 30th & 31st

Physicist Dr. Don DeYoung discusses Design From Nature Tuesday, 7:15pm
Most of us know that the inspiration for Velcro came from the common burdock plant's annoying stick-to-you seed pods, but few of us realize nature inspires many innovations for man.
Discovery of Design: Searching Out the Creator’s Secrets is the subject (and title of his book) of November's Creation Science Society of Milwaukee meeting, presented by Physicist Dr. Donald DeYoung.

For shame, Tom Barrett, Scott Walker SUPPORTS Stem Cell research!
We should be used to it by now, the misleading, or to put it politely, the pants on fire campaign ads that paint the opposing candidate as being heartless and against something as wholesome as Mom and Apple Pie.
In this case, it is Gubernatorial Democrat candidate Tom Barrett wearing the hot pants. He points the accusatory finger at his opponent Republican Scott Walker. The Mom and apple pie issue here is stem cell research.
Barrett's ad is intended to tug at your heart strings in hopes that you will make the leap that Scott Walker is heartless and against helping those in need because of his pro-life beliefs. The ad wants you to believe Walker is turning a deaf ear to the pleas of the featured mother, talking about her diabetic son and how embryonic stem cell research would help cure her son.
This ad was so outrageous in its claims that it prompted Gary Nosacek to write an outstanding piece in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Oct. 7th titled, The stem cell confusion. He states he is a "father, brother and nephew of diabetics, and the husband of a doctor, I'm really upset by this ad."
I also found out that Walker's own wife Tonette is "a type 1 diabetic" and she says, "I CAN PROMISE YOU, my husband is full of hope! Hope for me, hope for our family, and hope for Wisconsin!"
Tonette goes on to say, "Regardless of what Tom Barrett has said, Scott will NOT ban stem cell research. Scott supports adult stem cell research- research which science has shown to have the most promise to cure my disease and which does not destroy innocent human life. "
So what is going on here? Democrats support government funding for Embryonic Stem Cell research instead of Adult Stem Cell research. Why? Is it that Embryonic Stem Cells work and adult ones don't? NO.
In fact, Embryonic Stem Cell breakthroughs continue to be fraught with serious side effects such as tumor growth and rejection. They have shown very little positive results. There is not one cure confirmed to date.
Contrast that with Adult Stem Cell research and treatments, which have already helped 1,000s of people. Nosacek's points out that even with moral issues aside, the Embryonic Stem Cells are a waste of money.
He writes, "There are over 167 adult cell treatments and cures being used by doctors every day. There are more in clinical trials and in animal testing phases. As for embryonic cells, there is not one cure to be found. There are only two in human trials, but so far there are no results. As a rule, embryonic cells haven't done much of anything in any lab in the world other than promised to be promising someday in the distant future. Walker isn't against stem cell research. He's against spending millions on research that hasn't worked at the expense of what is working!"
He goes on to tell us that Adult Stem Cell research on diabetes was being carried out at Harvard but it has been a painstaking process because they couldn't get funding. All the government grants were going to Embryonic Stem Cell research. Finally funding came from "Lee Iacocca, who has a diabetic grandchild. Harvard is now in human trials. They are being bankrolled by anyone who wishes to contribute."
So why isn't the proven and more promising type of ADULT Stem Cell research being funded by Government grants? Because IF the Liberal, Pro-abortion advocates can get us all on board with using embryonic stem cells, we will have lost the pro-life, life begins at conception fight.
Just this month we learned there was a Baby Born From 20-Year-Old Frozen Embryo. This leaves little doubt that embryos, even ones frozen for 2 decades, aren't human. Here we have one born to a New York woman! Would she give up her son for stem cell research? Of course not. So why are we asked to accept that these humans be sacrificed for the sake of Leftist researchers?
This is nothing new here. In the 2008 presidential campaign Obama ads accused McCain of being against helping people through stem cell research, which was not true. Like McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin, Scott Walker and other Conservatives just favor life respecting ADULT Stem Cell research.
President Bush had to endure this criticism too with his position to not allow Federal funding to go toward Embryonic Stem Cell research. The Republicans were all Pro-Life.

One thing I would love to mark on my calendar would be the date businessman and Oshkosh Tea Party founder Ron Johnson announces that he is running for U.S. Senate against Russ Feingold. If you haven't heard, State Senator Ted Kanavas just announced he is NOT running.

- Saturday, May 1st, 9am: Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner and State Representative Leah Vukmir, at the Elm Grove Village Hall.
- Saturday and Sunday, May 1st & 2nd, 10am - 4pm: Civil War Encampment at Brookfield's historic Dousman Stagecoach Inn ~ The 2 day event includes craftsmen, soldier camps, skirmish, cannon fire, President Lincoln, fashion show, worship service, and more! We had quite an interesting conversation about President Lincoln with the embalmer at a past encampment.

Concordia's Dr. Jastram discusses first-hand experience with Dead Sea Scrolls, Tuesday, April 27
This Tuesday, April 27th, at 7:30pm, the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee will present a discussion on THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS, given by Dr. Nathan Jastram, Ph. D.
What makes this presentation unique, is that Dr. Jastram actually worked directly with the Scrolls and published a first edition of their contents. He currently is Chair of the Department of Theology and Philosophy at Concordia University in Mequon. His talk will include discussion of "his experiences with the Scrolls, along with their historical and theological significance."
From the CSSM website: "'Many years ago, I worked with the Dead Sea Scrolls in Jerusalem, piecing together fragments of the book of Numbers from Cave 4. On February 5 and 6, it was a great pleasure to introduce the Milwaukee Public Museum’s exhibit of the Scrolls and other archaeological objects to many people in the area, and to discuss how they contribute to our knowledge of the Bible,' said Dr. Jastram."
Whether you have already seen the Milwaukee Public Museum's special Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible exhibit, are planning to visit, or just interested in the Bible and history, Tuesday's presentation at Concordia should prove beneficial. (MPM's Scrolls exhibit runs through June 3rd.) The Scrolls have been dated from 150 BC - 70 AD.
Dr. Jastram's talk is free and open to the general public. It is being held in the Lake Shore Room at Concordia University, just a little north of I-43 and Mequon Road. See map for specifics with map of campus (at bottom). The Lake Shore room is at the midpoint of the campus, southwest of the Chapel.
More on the Scrolls
I went to see MPM's Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible exhibit and found it very interesting. Many other photos and archeological artifacts are also included along with the scrolls.
A few of my favorites were the film footage of the early "experts" with the scrolls. One clip showed a priest who was standing, rolling up the ancient scrolls on his stomach, much like you might roll up a long towel! Check out the photos of the researchers smoking over the Scrolls. They also uses Scotch Tape on some of the fragments.
As for the artifacts, look for the Ossuaries (small limestone bone burial chests), from the time of Christ. One was from Simon of Cyrene, the man the Romans forced to carry Jesus' cross in the Bible. What a coincidence to find a burial box with just that name and that of his son, Alexander (unusual for a Jew), just as mentioned in the Matthew 27:32, Luke 23: 26 and Mark 15: 21.
As I posted in February, my Sunday School teacher, Dr. Gary Gulan, offered a presentation at our church on the Dead Sea Scrolls. He has now posted some of the information from his presentation on his website: Beyond the Pulpit. The Scrolls pages are listed under the category, Articles, then Archeology.
Tuesday night's talk at Concordia offers a rare opportunity to hear from someone who has actually worked with the Scrolls. I think it should not be missed.

Good Friday through Easter or Resurrection Sunday mark the most important 3 days for a Christian. It is during this time that Christians the world over remember the crucifixion, sacrificial death, and burial of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and celebrate His resurrection on Sunday.
Will you see the Dead Sea Scrolls? Want to learn more?
Are you planning on seeing the special Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum? I have heard it is spectacular. It is the largest special exhibit our museum has ever produced. The Dead Sea Scrolls have been traveling the museum special exhibit circuit in the U.S., but this one, I have heard, incorporates even more artifacts into the exhibition.
OnMilwaukee.com has an in depth account of the exhibit in Stunning "Dead Sea Scrolls" a trove of history Their posting states "faith is not a prerequisite for marveling at 'Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures.'" In other words, it is an exhibit anyone can benefit from.
Usually I like to familiarize myself with the subject of a special exhibit before I attend. Knowing what to look for ahead of time makes my experience that much more meaningful. Sure, I have read one of the books and some info on the scroll discovery over the years, but knowing more of the background information enhances my exhibit experience.
Fortunately, my Sunday School teacher, Dr. Gary Gulan is presenting a special Dead Sea Scroll Seminar this weekend, with lots of slides. If you would like to attend, just contact me and I will give you the specifics.
I am going to see the exhibit mid March. (I'll try to do a follow up post.) You have until June 6th to see it. And speaking of seeing it, On Milwuakee suggest bringing your reading glasses. Good idea.

I don't often quote Jon Stewart, but "Poor Al Gore" cancels Copenhagen
You know an issue has traction when the the lib comics start jabbing their own on the left. This week, Comedian Jon Stewart threw this zinger at Global Warming Guru Al Gore. (I don't watch Jon, but Vicki McKenna mentioned it on her radio program. It is funny--raunch removed):
"Poor Al Gore, global warming completely debunked by the very Internet you invented. OH, OH the irony, the irony."
He also chided the CRU for throwing out raw data.
"But here's what's great about science, in disagreements we go back and look at the raw data (clip showing data destroyed) ... ...Why would you throw out raw data from the 80's?...", after all, he still has his girlie magazines from the 1970s!
This morning, I learned** that the Guru himself, Al Gore, CANCELED his special Copenhagen $1,209/ticket book promo, photo op, and snack with Al event!
Why?
The Danish ticket coordinator stated, "'great annoyance' was a factor in the cancellation, along with unforseen changes in Mr. Gore's program for the climate summit." Gore's cancellation affects 3,000 believers, um, make that ticket holders.
"Great annoyance"? "Unforseen changes in Mr. Gore's program"? Could it be Mr. Gore doesn't know how to incorporate eating crow into his slide presentation?
Al Gore's credibility was already on thin ice. Remember Gore has photo-shopped some of his pictures for greater affect in his movie and on his book cover. He won't debate any naysayers--he says he will, but then he cancels. And he will not answer pointed questions. Most recent example, when Gore was in Madison, WI, he would not respond to a simple question about polar bears being considered threatened when their population is growing*.
Whatever you might believe about man-made global warming, this latest cancellation is HUGE. Certainly in a crowd of 3,000 believers, willing to pay $1,200 just for the privilege of being in his presence, Gore was on friendly turf.
The man made global warming believers will still believe because it is a religion, not science, but canceling was a major faux pas, in my opinion. As any religious leader knows, you don't disappoint the faithful.

PBS allows religion of Global Warming, Humanism, Evolution but no sectarian programming
PBS just announced they will not allow any new religious programing on their airwaves. Reason? Separation of Church & Stations!
Actually, this ruling was a compromise. At first the PBS board recommended that stations currently running sectarian religious programs would have their PBS affiliation severed if they did not drop that programming.
National Day of Prayer: Meet at City Hall Plaza flags, Thursday, May 7, 12:20pm
This coming Thursday is the 58th annual National Day of Prayer in America. All across the country people of faith will be gathering around the flag poles at schools, city halls, and other public places to pray for our country and leaders. Some events are well organized; some are just a generic invitation to meet at your city hall flag pole from 12:20 to 12:40 pm.

While many in the world remember the Holocaust on this day, The Day of Remembrance, Iran's President Ahmadinejad spoke before the UN anti-racism conference, spewing his usual Holocaust denial sentiments. Those comments prompted "Dozens of diplomats" from Britain and Europe to walk out. The United States, Israel, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand and Poland did not opt to attend at all, because of concerns that the forum "would be used as a platform for attacks on Israel."

Christmas is the season of giving. Many charities make their year end pitch during the Christmas season. Whether you respond to their pleas or not, may depend more on your politics and religious beliefs than your wallet.
It's nice to see a little bit of Christmas in advertising
Have you noticed? Some stores are actually using the word, CHRISTMAS, in their advertising this year. It is nice to see. After all, Christmas is the reason people go out in the cold, spend money they don't have, and brave the crowds!

Our state capitol in Madison has a Christmas tree (I am using last year's term), a menorah for Hanukkah, and I think something for Kwanza too. I am fine with that. They are holidays celebrated in December by people of various religions and cultures in our state.
