Exploring Einstein's Two Most Perplexing Questions, In Easily Understood Terms Tuesday, January 14, 2014

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events

Kenneth Kartman, former President and current Vice-President of the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee will present
"An Absolute Quality Education"
Exploring Einstein’s Two Most Perplexing Questions, In Easily Understood Terms
Tuesday, January 14, 2014

Albert Einstein spent most of his life, as do many physicists, trying to solve the problems between reality on a very small (atomic) scale—a microcosm: quantum physics, and reality on a very large (gravitational) scale—a macrocosm: Newtonian physics. In fact, Einstein labored for years, as have others, trying to reconcile the differences between these two cornerstones of classical physics that have always been at odds with one another, but to no avail.
Many have searched for a "Unified Field Theory", sometimes known as the "Theory of Everything (TOE)", only to run into the same old conundrum: The Second Law of Thermodynamics cannot be derived from Newton’s Laws. Simply put, the two have thus far been irreconcilable, in that Newtonian Mechanics are time reversible, but The Second Law of Thermodynamics isn't. That apparent fact—that you can’t derive one law from the other—makes for an incomplete picture in what is otherwise, basically, a very complete system…and it drives physicists crazy!
Mr. Kartman’s presentation will resolve this dilemma by delivering the elusive answers to Einstein’s two most perplexing questions: What is the opposition to gravity? and How can E=mc2 be reconciled with F=ma? And he will explain it in an easily understood, straightforward manner--one does not need to be a physicist, a mathematician, or even an adult to grasp this truth, hence the title: An Absolute Quality Education.
Ken Kartman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education and Masters of Science in Industrial-Technology Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. At Arrowhead High School, Hartland, Wisconsin, he was an Industrial Technology Instructor and Department Coordinator as well as Football Coach.
In the technology field, Kartman was the Vice President of Brush Holder Sales at Helwig Carbon Products, Inc., one of the last American owned manufacturers of electro-mechanical brushes, brush holders, and electro-mechanical contacts located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During his tenure there, Kartman re-engineered the brush and brush holder assemblies for all 18 generators within the Hoover Dam, as well as brush and brush holder assemblies on hydro dams and generators across the United States ...including steel, mining, oil, and other large and small industries throughout North America.
Kartman served as CSSM President from 2006-2013 and now serves as Vice-President of the group.
Sponsored by the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee, Kartman’s presentation is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, N48W18700 Lisbon Road (Northeast corner of Lisbon and Brookfield Roads), Menomonee Falls, WI. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Carl Kerby to speak on Becoming Bold! and Human Evolution - What Does Evidence Show? Oct. 15, 2013

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Religion, Special events

Carl Kerby is an engaging speaker, who has a way of connecting with young people, adults, church groups, schools — almost everybody. He is a much sought-after speaker both in the United States and abroad, and he is the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's guest speaker  this month.

In his first talk entitled “Becoming Bold! Know it! Live it! Share it!” Carl will examine the reasons 50 to 88 percent of young people raised in Bible-believing churches walk away from the church as adults. He will look at the causes of this huge exodus and then show that by starting with the Bible, solutions can be offered to this alarming problem in the church. Just teaching Bible stories to our children isn’t working; young people in our churches need to know how to stand uncompromisingly on the authority and accuracy of the Bible so they can answer the skeptical questions of the age and live lives pleasing to the Lord.

He will also present “Human Evolution: From Ida to Us, What Does the Evidence Show?” We are inundated with the message that man evolved over millions of years. Our public school systems, television programs, movies and secular museums all push this message on us constantly and convincingly. But, what does the evidence really show? Using information from the website “Revealing the Link,” Carl will debunk the myths surrounding the “missing links” (including the world famous Lucy) and why we didn’t evolve from apes. Once we look beyond the veneer to what the actual evidence really shows, you may be surprised.

UW-Oshkosh Prof. Dr. Pesta to Discuss Moral Relativism and Common Core in Schools, Sept. 10, 2013

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Education, Socialism / Marxism, Special events

Labor Day is past, which means it is back to school time for students enrolled in public and private schools in our state. However, the education most students receive today is very different from the 3 R's of the past.

In the last 120 years, the philosophies of humanism and Marxism have undermined the Judeo-Christian values our nation was founded upon, both in our schools and society.  University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh professor James Duke Pesta, Ph. D., will discuss this radical philosophical shift from absolute truth to moral relativism at his upcoming presentation at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee meeting at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In a talk entitled “The Effects of Moral Relativism in our Schools,” Dr. Pesta will examine the abandonment of truth’s effect on our educational system and the threats to our culture at large.

Dr. Pesta will also present “The Dangers of Common Core Curriculum.”  In this second talk, he will provide a detailed and shocking look at the U.S. Department of Education’s coming Common Core standards and their plan to “fundamentally transform” American education. Contrary to our Founder’s intent, to keep decisions regarding educating America’s children under local control within each state, Common Core will include a uniform, national curriculum—emphasizing moral relativism, nationwide standardized testing, and a national database for every child.

Parents opting to send their children to private and parochial schools should be aware that many of them will adopt Common Core curriculum and its standardized testing too.

Common Core has been in the news, yet few people understand just what it is. Since Wisconsin has accepted millions of dollars from the Federal government to implement the program, Dr. Pesta’s presentation should be of interest to parents and taxpayers alike.

The presentations are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church – west entrance, at W196 N9525 Cross View Way, Menomonee Falls, WI  53051.  The church is located on Hwy Q, also called County Line Road, about 1 mile west of Hwy 41-45 on the south side of Hwy Q.  The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Pesta is a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and the academic director of FreedomProject Education  www.freedomproject.com

Amazing video animation of inner life of cell & DeYoung REPORT

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Medicine, Religion

WOW!  Watch this video animation of cell functions related to leukocyte extravasation or "the mechanisms that allow a white blood cell to sense its surroundings and respond to an external stimulus". (Translation: How your body gets the germ fighting white blood cells to where they are needed.)

Most of us won't understand it all*, but you will get a sense of how intricate our cells and body are. My favorite section was at about the 3:50 minute mark where a motor protein literally walked up the microtubule (at 3:20 mark), hauling a huge membrane bound cargo vesicle to its destination! (David Bolinsky, one of the animators, called it the FedEx guy of the cell. It is called a canesan, but I am not sure of the spelling.) Truly amazing.

This video clip came from Dr. Mercola's website and was produced by The Howard Hughes Medical Institute. In other words, it has no connection to Christianity, Creation Science or the Intelligent Design movement. It was produced to help cellular biology students understand the workings of the cell. (I subscribe to Dr. Mercola's website because I am interested in Natural Medicine. His website is not Christian based however, therefore some info I accept, some I reject.)

Yet, when you watch all the intricate steps of just getting a white blood cell to the location it is needed, it is pretty obvious those steps were all designed and orchestrated--they couldn't happen by accident.

The last section of the video shows how the leading edge of the rolling white blood leukocyte flattens and spreads at the proper spot, allowing it to slip through the space between the endothelial cells, escaping the blood vessel wall to get to the site of infection.

If all of what we see and are is the product of random chance--evolution--how did those early organisms survive infection? How did those early cells exist without these complex, well orchestrated, mechanisms?

Since both Evolution and Creation require faith, I think it was a lot easier to believe in evolution when cells were thought to be simple structures seen under primitive lenses and microscopes in the 1800s. But once the electron microscope came on the scene, we then became aware of the complex anatomy and physiology (structure and function) of these supporting cellular structures, the human genome, and on the physical side of science, the sub atomic level of atoms.

I believe the more we are able to see into these tiny worlds, the more complex we will find them: the mechanisms featured in the video will have their own minute support structure. Dr. DeYoung also stated his belief in the intricacy of the unseen world yet to be discovered.

And that brings me to my REPORT on Dr. Don DeYoung's seminar on Design From Nature last night. He was a dynamo of information and presented it in a lively manner.

He informed us that scientists and inventors are looking to nature for ideas. They even have a name for this: bio-mimicry: the discovery and application of designs found in nature.

Dr. DeYoung started with the very small: Diatoms (Look at link to see structures). These are tiny, rather geometric structures that are part animal and part plant, and they live everywhere. Why are we interested? Because scientists have found if they plate them with metal, they can use them in nanotechnology as gear and sieve parts! We can't make things this small but Nature can.

Did you know the Pentagon is looking to the cuttlefish, with its ability to turn on and off dyes beneath their skin, to make camouflage clothing and paint that will do the same? Or how corn's natural fiberoptics inspired the fiberoptics we use today for communication, the beech leaf's folded structure inspired the solar collectors used on satellites, or the boxfish's design was the inspiration for Mercades/Diamler Chrysler's 84 mpg European concept car.

If these types of innovations interests you, check out his website that features a Design of the Month at Discovery of Design.

We are all free to believe what we wish to believe, but as our ability to observe the inner workings of cells, atoms, and systems, I believe it will take more faith to believe in evolution than in Creation or at least Intelligent Design. It is your choice. At least be open minded enough to look and consider how this could all just happen by random mutation and accident.

*I admit I am a bit of a science and medical geek, but I think it will be fascinating to many of you just the same. I was able to follow much of the video; studying homeschool biology in 2005 definitely helped!

Nature without Naturalism: New Thoughts on a New Earth, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, 7pm

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Free, Nature, Special events

What gardener doesn't long for a garden free of weeds, pests, and disease? And don't most of us want pure, toxin free water to drink, clean air to breathe, safe foods to eat , and a pristine environment to live in, where all can thrive in harmony on a renewed earth? In short, we are looking for a perfect world, an Eden.

Unfortunately, a perfect world like this is not possible on our earth at this time.

But there is a day coming when everything will be made anew, and this is the subject of this month's Creation Science Society of Milwaukee lecture: Nature Without Naturalism: New Thoughts on a New Earth.

In this presentation, Rick Albrecht, a West Allis -West Milwaukee science teacher, will team up with Tim Albers, a psychologist at local schools, both private and public, to bring us this seldom discussed program. These two rather hard-nosed realists will look at the subject of origins from the other end of history, from the viewpoint of our planet's destiny.

Contrary to popular misconceptions, Albrecht and Albers point out, the Bible predicts a restored, renewed, physical and "earthly" New Earth -- painting a picture that would dazzle even the most optimistic of environmentalists. The pathway to this magnificent destiny: taking naturalism out of nature.

In order to provide their audience with a rarely considered and fascinating view of our planet's wondrous future, their wide-ranging talk will cover subjects from genetic coding, information theory, and astrobiology to motivation theory, cosmology and paleontology.

This presentation is sponsored by the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee and is free and open to the public. The talk will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, at Brookfield Lutheran Church, 18500 W. Burleigh Rd., Brookfield, Wisconsin. Directions

More about the speakers:
Rich Albercht translated his love of mountains into a degree in geology. His career-long fascination with the topic of our universe's origins has led him to speaking engagements in many venues.
Tim Albers, a graduate adjunct professor at Concordia University Wisconsin who focuses on subjects from worldview analysis to the roots of school violence. He has presented creation - evolution issues in settings from the Audubon Nature Center to an international conference on Intelligent Design.

Creation Science Seminar: 'Answers Conference', November 16, 17, 2012, Brookfield, WI

Brookfield, Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Education, Free, Special events, Religion

Ever wonder if the book of Genesis is relevant today? What about dinosaurs, did they ever live with man? Is the earth really millions of years old or is it young? Does the rock and fossil record back up either claim? Have they ever found the remains of an apeman, or can we really believe there was an Adam as the Bible teaches?

If you do, you are not alone. These questions trouble many Christians today.

Dr. Terry Mortenson and Tim Chaffey, two well known Creation Science speakers from Answers in Genesis, will address these questions and more at the Using God's Word for the World's Questions ANSWERS CONFERENCE, this Friday evening, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17. They will teach a biblical and scientific defense for the Christian faith and give new insights into our past.

The two-day Answers Conference is sponsored by the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee and Brookside Baptist Church. It is designed to equip Christians with the facts necessary to defend the foundational truth of the Genesis account in the Bible. It will also show that the basis for evolution is not founded in rocks and fossils but rather in an anti-biblical worldview.

The conference is free and open to the public, but a free will offering will be taken. All sessions will take place at Brookside Baptist Church, 4470 N. Pilgrim Rd., Brookfield, Wisconsin. Get Directions

With a PhD in history of geology from the University of Coventry in England, Dr. Mortenson has been studying and speaking on the creation-evolution controversy in 21 countries since the late 1970s. Many of his popular lectures have been produced as DVDs and TV programs. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. Like many creationists, Mortenson grew up in an education system that taught evolution as fact. He began to see the fallacy of the idea of millions of years of evolution in his early college years.

Tim Chaffey holds a B.S. and two M.A. degrees in Biblical and Theological Studies. Chaffey is the founder and director of Midwest Apologetics, a ministry dedicated to defending the word of God from the beginning to the end. Brookfield, Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Religion, Special events

On Tuesday, April 24th, Jerry Frye will once again be the featured speaker at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting, at Brookside Baptist Church in Brookfield. His topic is Origins, Beauty, and Wrath: Why What We Believe Matters Today.

Jerry is an Elm Grove business executive and also a very popular creation science speaker here at home and around the world. On Tuesday evening, "Jerry will delve deeply into a subject he has been exploring for his audiences in recent years -- why our beliefs matter. He will survey such topics as the origin, organization and pervasive nature of information: the origin of order and beauty, and the wrath of abandonment that results when we suppress our innate knowledge of our Creator."

I have heard Jerry Frye speak at past CSSM meetings and also teach Sunday school classes. He is an engaging and thought provoking speaker.

The April 24th CSSM meeting will be held at 7:15 pm in Brookside Baptist Church's auditorium. Brookside is located at 4470 North Pilgrim Road in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Bruce Holman on Entropy and Origin of Life, Tuesday, March 27, 2012

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events

Entropy and the Origin of Life is the subject of Tuesday's Creation Science Society of Milwaukee meeting at 7:30pm at Wisconsin Lutheran High School Auditorium.

At this meeting, Dr. Bruce Holman will explore just how entropy enters into the discussion of the origins of life. "In this presentation the concepts of entropy and the second law of thermodynamics will be described, and used to show that the availability of more time and space actually makes a spontaneous generation of life less likely."

To refresh your memory, because entropy and laws of thermodynamics aren't exactly household words, entropy is the subject of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. The 1st Law states "that matter/energy cannot be created nor destroyed " and the 2nd Law says "the quality of matter/energy deteriorates gradually over time." Neither of these Laws support the theory of evolution.

Who is Dr. Bruce Holman? He "received his PhD. from Northwestern University in Organic Chemistry, and has pursued an active research career on a wide range of physical and organic chemical problems resulting in several publications in peer reviewed journals and 3 granted patents. He was asked to establish the chemistry department at Wisconsin Lutheran College in 1985 and taught all undergraduate chemistry courses as well as many math and physics courses during his 8 years as professor at WLC."

Dr. Holman also taught Organic and Biochemistry at Carroll University and Concordia University and recently conducted research as an associate at Marquette University in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance technology. Currently, he is executive director of the Lutheran Science Institute.

I am looking forward to hearing his presentation on Tuesday. The meeting is free and open to the general public.

Wisconsin Lutheran High School is located at 330 N. Glenview Avenue in Milwaukee, which is just south of the intersection of Glenview Ave (84th St.) and Bluemound Road, on the east side of the street. If entering from the parking lot, use the south-east entrance; if you park on the street, use the front entrance to the High School. The meeting begins at 7:30pm in the cafeteria auditorium. (Location was changed.)

The great debate at UWM: 'Intelligent Design vs. Darwinism: Can Science Point to God?' Tues. March 6, 2012

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events, Religion

Can Science point to God?

Find out on Tuesday evening, March 6, 2012 when the Lutheran Student Fellowship of UWMhosts a debate between 2 college professors on opposing ends of the origins spectrum: Intelligent Design vs. Darwinism.

This is truly a rare opportunity, because it is very difficult to find a professor (science or other) willing to defend evolution / Darwinism in a debate format.*
But Dr. William Bristow, Professor of Philosophy at UWM, is willing. He will debate Dr. Angus Mengue, Professor of Philosophy, from Concordia University

The debate will take place at 6:30pm at UWM's Student Union (just east of Maryland Ave. on E. Kenwood Blvd.) in the Wisconsin Room -2nd floor. The event is free and will have a Q&A afterwards. Don't miss it!

This debate is sponsored by Luther Memorial Chapel & University Student Center in Shorewood.

*The Creation Science Society of Milwaukee, the group I am affiliated with, has been trying to line up a debate between one of their speakers such as Dr. Jerry Bergman and an evolutionist for months now. Like other creation groups, we have not been able to find a science professor willing to do it.

'Understanding Fossil Evidence' Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, National Parks, Special events

No doubt about it, fossils are a fascinating, tangible glimpse into the past. They are like snapshots in time. How much time? That depends on your world view. (Click here if all 4 photos don't appear)

Concordia University professor Dr. Gary Locklair will explore the topic "Understanding Fossil Evidence" at 7pm on Tuesday, February 14th, at Concordia in the Lakeshore Room--Info & directions. His "presentation will focus on the different interpretive frameworks used by scientists in evaluating fossil evidence."

"Creationary and evolutionary scientists study the exact same evidence, the fossils, yet come to radically different conclusions about the origin of life on earth."

Differing conclusions were never more evident to me than while listening to the Park Ranger at Dinosaur National Monument last April: He explained how 1 inch of sediment depth equaled X millions of years* in the Fossil Quarry, yet the huge fossilized dinosaur bones, entombed in the hill, were cemented in a span of sediment about 15-20 feet tall! Click for picture Some of the bones were random, others were from one animal, which points to some cataclysmic event.

Former evolutionist Paul Frank discusses Creation/Evolution debate Nov. 29, 2011

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events, Religion

Many people think the Creation Science movement is just made up of Christians who ignore the scientific evidence. Well, that thinking will be challenged by Paul Frank, this month's Creation Science Society of Milwaukee speaker.

Paul Frank offers an interesting perspective on the Creation/Evolution debate, since he graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh with a B.S. in biology and a minor in chemistry. But even more noteworthy than his scientific background, is the fact that he began his college years as an agnostic and devout evolutionist!

From the CSSM Newsletter: "[Paul's] evolutionary beliefs were challenged when a friend presented him with a book entitled Studies in Creation by Dr. John Klotz. The book piqued Paul’s interest and the next book he read on the subject, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, marked a watershed moment in Paul’s life. The theory of evolution seemed implausible to him after reading that book. Incidentally this was the same book that Lehigh University biochemist Michael Behe read that turned him from his evolutionary beliefs and resulted in his seminal work Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution. To this day Behe’s first book remains a benchmark for the new ID movement." (My emphasis)

Paul Frank will approach the Creation Science / Intelligent Design movement vs. Evolution from a scientific, bio-chemical viewpoint--that genetic entropy (deterioration) rules out progressive macroevolution (major changes occurring over a long time), and "the necessity of DNA and proteins arising at the same time. He will also present a formidable argument against chemical evolution using probability statics."

In layman's terms, mutations cannot account for changes necessary for large scale evolution (one cell animals to humans or even fish to amphibian), because we now know that mutations just take away or repeat code that is already written. We also now know that new genetic information cannot be spontaneously added by chance, because that is mathematically impossible--the sequencing is far too complex for chance.

As you might have guessed, this presentation will be more technical in nature and is intended for adults.

Mr. Frank will present his talk on the Creation/Evolution Debate on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 6:45pm at Grace Bible Church, 2643 S. 117th Street, West Allis, Wisconsin. (Located between Cleveland and Lincoln Avenue on 117th Street.)

Jay Seegert discusses Evolution: Probable or Problematic, Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, 7:15pm

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events, Religion

This Tuesday evening, Jay Seegert will examine the question many people have: Is evolution probable or problematic? - a brief look under the hood. In other words, does the theory of evolution stand up to closer scientific scrutiny?

From the Creation Science Society website:
"Jay developed this lecture after he attended a high-powered, invitation-only 3-day BioInformatics symposium at Cornell University this summer.

"Jay will demonstrate that various aspects of evolution actually seem fairly plausible to many people, including Christians. For example, a fish slowly turning into an amphibian… with the fins being slightly modified into short legs/feet and being able to crawl up on land and breath air. So from a certain distance or vantage point, things can appear to be quite plausible or look very good. However, when you “look under the hood” you see a completely different picture.

"In this talk, Jay will “take a look under the hood” regarding what actually has to happen genetically in order for a single cell organism to change into a human being. He will show how DNA works and point out a serious problem with the concept of evolution. By the end of the lecture, the audience sees how utterly impossible molecules-to-man evolution really is, even though portions of their story occasionally seem plausible."

Jay Seegert has degrees in Physics and Engineering and is also the Co-Founder and Principal Lecturer for the Creation Education Center of Wisconsin. He recently became the Ambassador for Logos Research Associates and joined The Third Rail, a project of the Biblical Worldview Broadcast Team. Jay served as the President of the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee for 3 years. Though I have not met Jay Seegert before, I have heard he is an excellent speaker.

This month's meeting* begins at 7:15pm at Zion Lutheran Church N48 W18700 Lisbon Road, in Menomonee Falls (at Lisbon Rd. and Brookfield Rd.).

Last February, Dr. Scott Hardin addressed this very issue. And while we can morph pictures of fish into amphibians fairly easily, adding the DNA genetic code necessary to change from gills to lungs, 2 chambered heart into a 3 chamber heart, or adding the vascular, musculoskeletal, and nervous systems necessary to accommodate these changes is impossible.

*Due to a scheduling problem, the Institute of Creation Research speaker was unable to come to Wisconsin for this October meeting.

"The Importance of Worldview" & literal 6 day creation, Tuesday, April 19th

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Brookfield, Special events, Religion

If you are a Christian, does it matter if you believe in the literal 6 day week of creation as described in the book of Genesis?

Find out why 6 literal days is important this coming Tuesday evening, when local business executive Gerald Frye, of Elm Grove, will present, "The Importance of Worldview" at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting.

Mr. Frye spoke to the group last year detailing how Purpose Precedes Creation and did an excellent job. I would anticipate this talk to be equally interesting.

This month, the CSSM meeting will be held at 7:15 pm in Brookside Baptist Church's auditorium. Brookside is located at 4470 North Pilgrim Road in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Hear Dr. Bergman on 'The Dark Side of Charles Darwin', March 8th

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events, Religion

College professor Dr. Jerry Bergman will present a 2 part talk The Dark Side of Charles Darwin at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 8th, at 7:15pm. This month's meeting will be hosted by Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 3030 W. Oklahoma Ave, in Milwaukee.

The first part deals with some of the dark details of Darwin's life such as:
Charles Darwin’s major goal in developing his theory was religious, he wanted to "murder" god (his words).
•He was active in "converting" all he could to his theory of origins.
•Darwin plagiarized most of his major ideas.
•Darwin was a racist of the worst kind and believed the lower races (the blacks) would go extinct.
•Darwin was opposed to helping the sick, but realized this idea would not go over well.

In Part 2, Dr. Bergman will explain "Atheism as it is found in the teachings of science", and "why the creation view of Origins is so important in this day when the media and public education disallows any view other than evolution to explain how all life has come about in this world of ours."
It is well known and well recognized that evolution is the doorway to Atheism.
•A major reason given to become an Atheist was evolution.
•The whole point of the evolution creation account is to demolish the theistic creation account.
•It takes more faith to be an Atheist than a Creationist.
•Dr. Bergman will cover the Atheist creation story as developed by Hawking and others to document this.

It isn't often that we have a speaker with his level of experience. Dr. Bergman "has taught biology, genetics, chemistry, biochemistry, anthropology, geology, and microbiology at the college level for over 30 years. He has 9 degrees, including 7 graduate degrees, and has authored over 800 publications" including a book by the same title The Dark Side of Charles Darwin".

Interestingly, though once an Atheist*, "[Dr. Bergman's] examination of the scientific evidence for evolution led to ... Christ! ", which is why "case studies show clear evidence that many university officials and faculty are deeply afraid of intellectual freedom on this subject".

I am looking forward to hearing Dr. Bergman speak on this subject. If you are interested in Origins and Charles Darwin, I urge you to attend too.

*Like so many other Creationists who originally were Atheists, questioning the evidence for Evolution also led author, Kitty Foth-Regner, to Christianity: From Feminist Atheism to Biblical Truth.

Brookfield's Dr. Scott Hardin, "From Fish to Amphibian, a Practical View" Tuesday, 7:30pm

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Religion

Ever wonder how a fish could evolve into an amphibian? While they both begin their lives breathing through gills under water, the amphibians soon leave their tadpole days behind as they mature. They not only develop legs, they also develop air breathing lungs. Toads and salamanders go on to live on land near water, and frogs live primarily in the water with occasional trips to Terra firma. How could 2 such complicated anatomic changes occur by chance?

Dr. Scott Hardin will discuss this question in his presentation, "From Fish to Amphibian, a Practical View" at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee meeting on Tuesday, February 8th, at 7:30pm. This meeting will be held at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, N87 W16171 Kenwood Blvd., Menomonee Falls.

From the CSSM press release:
"A review will be made by Dr. Scott Hardin of some of the assertions made by proponents of the concept of evolution and he will challenge the validity of the same using acceptable laws of science, logic and common sense. Both evolutionist and creationists start with the statement, 'In the beginning...' It is what follows that creates divergent views."

"Dr. Scott's talk...will be about the anatomic changes that need to occur in order for the fish ancestor species to transform into the first amphibian, with special emphasis on the cardiopulmonary systems. He will explain that there is no way for the changes to occur from a genetic standpoint, and if there is no way for the fish ancestor organism to acquire the necessary DNA, then it is impossible for the fish to transform into an amphibian."

And it is that additional DNA code that presents the problem for evolutionists. Unlike Natural Selection that results in reducing the code, such as only long haired dogs* surviving in very cold climates (long haired dogs possessing less genetic information than the original wolf kind pair or even from a genetically mixed group of long, medium, and short haired dogs), adding legs and lungs to a fish means also adding vast amounts of complicated DNA coding.

I am looking forward to Dr. Hardin's talk. Dr. Hardin** presently is the Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services for St. Luke's Hospital and serves as Vice Chief of Staff 2010 - 2011, and then Chief of Staff 2012 - 2013.

*Ken Ham gave this example at the Answers in Genesis Conference last weekend

**I was a patient of Dr. Hardin's several years ago.

Some readers might assume that I am trying to convince those of you who are atheist to believe in God. Although I would like to have all believe, this is not my goal, for no one convinces anyone to faith. My concern is for the believer who thinks the Bible is at odds with science. If these people take the time to educate themselves, they will find they do not have to check their brains at the door to believe in the Genesis account.

Physicist Dr. Don DeYoung discusses Design From Nature Tuesday, 7:15pm

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events, Religion, Truth

Most of us know that the inspiration for Velcro came from the common burdock plant's annoying stick-to-you seed pods, but few of us realize nature inspires many innovations for man.

Discovery of Design: Searching Out the Creator’s Secrets is the subject (and title of his book) of November's Creation Science Society of Milwaukee meeting, presented by Physicist Dr. Donald DeYoung.

His talk will be held on Tuesday, November 30th, 7:15 PM, at Grace Bible Church, 2643 South 117th Street, West Allis, Wisconsin, (414) 541-4252 (Across from Nathan Hale High School sports fields on 117th, just north of Cleveland Avenue.) Tuesday, Oct. 26: Dr. John Whitcomb presents "The Creator of the World"

Brookfield, Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Special events, Truth

What an opportunity! Bible scholar and pioneer of modern Creation Science Dr. John Whitcomb is coming to Brookfield on Tuesday, Oct. 26th, at 7:30pm, to present his talk "The Creator of the World" at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting.

"Dr. Whitcomb will use a powerful multi-media presentation to unfold scriptural teachings about this Creator, His work, and His methods." He will be speaking at Brookside Baptist Church at 4470 N. Pilgrim Road (north of Capitol Drive and south of Lisbon Road). His presentation is free and open to the public.

Those of you who have done some reading on Creation Science might be familiar with some of his books on the subject. He co-authored with Dr. Henry Morris' The Genesis Flood and wrote the books The Early Earth and The World That Perished.

Those of you who do not believe in the Biblical account of creation or think you have to check your brains at the door to even accept Intelligent Design & a young earth over evolution, might want to come on Tuesday to hear a different point of view.

People on both sides of the creation/evolution question may also be interested in a new movie, Persuaded by the Evidence.

This movie features scientists who believed "evolutionary dogma was a 'fact'" but found their "own research compelled [them] that evolution couldn't possibly be true."

Here is the trailer:

Hope you can make it on Tuesday to hear Dr. Whitcomb.

Speaking of rare opportunities... Creationist Ken Ham will be coming to Brookside on Sunday evening, January 30th, 2011, to speak on creation. Ken Ham is founder of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum.

Concordia's Dr. Jastram discusses first-hand experience with Dead Sea Scrolls, Tuesday, April 27

History, Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Religion, Special events

This Tuesday, April 27th, at 7:30pm, the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee will present a discussion on THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS, given by Dr. Nathan Jastram, Ph. D.

What makes this presentation unique, is that Dr. Jastram actually worked directly with the Scrolls and published a first edition of their contents. He currently is Chair of the Department of Theology and Philosophy at Concordia University in Mequon. His talk will include discussion of "his experiences with the Scrolls, along with their historical and theological significance."

From the CSSM website: "'Many years ago, I worked with the Dead Sea Scrolls in Jerusalem, piecing together fragments of the book of Numbers from Cave 4. On February 5 and 6, it was a great pleasure to introduce the Milwaukee Public Museum’s exhibit of the Scrolls and other archaeological objects to many people in the area, and to discuss how they contribute to our knowledge of the Bible,' said Dr. Jastram."

Whether you have already seen the Milwaukee Public Museum's special Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible exhibit, are planning to visit, or just interested in the Bible and history, Tuesday's presentation at Concordia should prove beneficial. (MPM's Scrolls exhibit runs through June 3rd.) The Scrolls have been dated from 150 BC - 70 AD.

Dr. Jastram's talk is free and open to the general public. It is being held in the Lake Shore Room at Concordia University, just a little north of I-43 and Mequon Road. See map for specifics with map of campus (at bottom). The Lake Shore room is at the midpoint of the campus, southwest of the Chapel.

More on the Scrolls
I went to see MPM's Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible exhibit and found it very interesting. Many other photos and archeological artifacts are also included along with the scrolls.

A few of my favorites were the film footage of the early "experts" with the scrolls. One clip showed a priest who was standing, rolling up the ancient scrolls on his stomach, much like you might roll up a long towel! Check out the photos of the researchers smoking over the Scrolls. They also uses Scotch Tape on some of the fragments.

As for the artifacts, look for the Ossuaries (small limestone bone burial chests), from the time of Christ. One was from Simon of Cyrene, the man the Romans forced to carry Jesus' cross in the Bible. What a coincidence to find a burial box with just that name and that of his son, Alexander (unusual for a Jew), just as mentioned in the Matthew 27:32, Luke 23: 26 and Mark 15: 21.

As I posted in February, my Sunday School teacher, Dr. Gary Gulan, offered a presentation at our church on the Dead Sea Scrolls. He has now posted some of the information from his presentation on his website: Beyond the Pulpit. The Scrolls pages are listed under the category, Articles, then Archeology.

Tuesday night's talk at Concordia offers a rare opportunity to hear from someone who has actually worked with the Scrolls. I think it should not be missed.

"Purpose Precedes Creation" presentation Tuesday, Jan. 26, 7:30pm

Creation Science / Intelligent Design, Brookfield, Special events

Ever wonder "Why in the world are butterflies so stunningly beautiful?"* Why are their wing patterns tiny works of art? If they just evolved from the primordial ooze, as evolutionists believe, why are their wing designs orderly and artfully arranged, instead of just an accidental hodgepodge of color? For that matter, how do you explain their complicated life cycle and migration patterns?

On a less glamorous subject, "What purpose do organs such as the appendix serve? and what can we conclude from the life-sustaining perfection of every variable in earth's physical existence?" Years ago, the appendix and tonsils were thought to be useless parts. Today we know differently. They have a purpose.

Tuesday night, local business executive Gerald Frye of Elm Grove, will explore the topic, God's Purposes in Creation, at the Creation Science Society of Milwaukee's monthly meeting.

If you have ever wondered about Creation Science or Intelligent Design, Tuesday's meeting should be informative and interesting. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 7:30pm
Brookside Baptist Church Auditorium
4470 N. Pilgrim Road
Brookfield, WI

*Quotes are from Gerald Frye

Also coming up: Creation Worldview Weekend in West Bend on February, 19, 20, and 21. This seminar is also FREE and open to the public.
