Packer Draft; Brewers Hit; Bucks Shoot
Packer Draft nite was something to remember. I watched the drama unfold not knowing who would be left for the Pack to pick. There were quarterbacks, running backs, defensive backs and wide receivers available. The suspense ended when the Pack chose a huge offensive lineman from Iowa/big ten conference. Bryan Bulaga at 316 lbs is the designated blocker assigned to protect Aaron Rodgers. Most experts say it is a safe choice. Most of all it is the right position to fill. With 2 aging offensive lineman coming back a rugged Big Ten performer is the primary need. More suspense from 5pm on today. So far so good.
Then the repeat of the Brewers slugfest in a 20 to 0 thumping of the Pirates. Setting the pace were Braun and Fielder and a host of others looking to improve their stats. The shutout win from Randy Wolf was a pleasure to see. With the pressure off the Brew Crew hit everything in site. The importance is that this is the first game when both the hitting and pitching were on the same wave length. Look for more hitting from players like Escobar, SS, and Weeks 2B who were not a sure thing before the season started.
Bucks win at home ! That is the hope when a well rested team has a chance to start over before a home crowd and in their own house. Playoff games on the road are tough especially when the opponent is tough. Saturday nite will be the same tough opponent, Atlanta, but this time before the hometown fans. To win they must shoot and score . Head Coach Skiles has challenged rookie Jennings to set the pace but the backcourt, with Salmons, cannot do it alone. Balanced scoring is the answer with a fast break into the paint.

What more can be said about the Brewers? No sense blaming the management. It's the players who are overpaid and under-performing. I'd sure like to have a job that pays me those kind of wages for doing a poor job that anyone in the business could do. Shame on the Brewers players!

brewers down 7 to 0 in 7th inning. mgr macha let pitcher davis allow home run, double, hit batter and walk before he decided to pull him out. before that no bullpen pitcher warming up, which is not a big physical adventure. that does not include pitches in the dirt. the only real job a baseball mgr has is to pull the pitcher at the right time, ie., when he cannot get an out. i was a player-mgr and could not stand pitchers who do not throw strikes. i would go from 3rd base and tell the pitcher, who was a friend, to let them hit it and throw strikes. even in batting practice hitters have a hard time. in fact many hitters are bad ball hitters cause they guess before swinging. i was a first ball hitter. macha don't get it. the brewers have to use ALL their pitchers and don't tell me that a bullpen guy pitched 1 inning 2 days ago. he still gets a check. if this continues i will be chanting bring on Don Money. macha always waits for some dumb reason to leave a pitcher in; maybe he can get a win; next inning he gets a pinch hitter; the next batter is 2 for 15 lifetime; you will shake his confidence. ( for a million a year at a minimum.). good pitching wins games. bad pitching loses games. baseball 101.

Brewers 3, Arizona 2. Yo only pitched 5 innings and was super sharp to get the win. A good west record will be a start when the boys come home next Mon. but will the brew crew fans give Prince a pass if he stays a trance ? i won't. the 3rd base coach thinks everone can score. he needs to study the opposing OF more.

my reply was cut off. what i said was that i did not realize that PF is signed through 2011. that the fans i reffered to are bucks fans. there is not such thing as being outmatched if you are a real athlete. in my sports it gives me an incentive to rise to a higher level. brewers have possible players who can do that: escobar, hart and gomez. not that they will but that they can do. look at ryan braun, he thinks that he can hit anything, strike or ball. its all in the mind. i credit mgr. macha for taking davis out of the game when he cant throw a strike. i like a short hook. one pitch can decide the game. we used to warm up 2 or 3 pitchers before the game and see which one was ready. they are people who have problems like everyone else.

The Brewers seem to play "good baseball" only against teams that play "bad baseball"! So what if the fans are great? That doesn't make a team win if they are outmatched.

I was at some Bucks games including a playoff game and was impressed with the fans. Yes, I kept saying that someone has to guard Bibby and if it was Jennings he needs more defensive skills. then again, who guarded Delfino and Jennings ? Also, i was at the original Milwaukee Shooting Stars games, the beginning of pro BB here. yes, we were not as good as Atlanta who is not as good as Orlando.

Me? Daft? So sir! I've been to a few Bucks games during the regular season and all 3 playoff games this year. I've got my 2 red and 1 white towel to prove it. How about you? The playoff atmosphere at the Hawks games was something that I'd never witnessed before at the BC. It was great!

I fully agree about Prince. Maybe get 2 pitchers cause one may have a sore arm. after the season it is too late to get something in return.

I think the Brewers should try to get a top rate pitcher in return for Fielder. Sure he hits homers when he hits, but his overall average is just that...average. He will be gone anyhow when the Yankees offer him $200 million, so better to get something big for him now.

"No pitching and no hitting" --- shows what you know! They're planning on winning through superior fielding!!

It's hard to beat a team that shoots better than you, is faster than you, is bigger than you, gets away with a ton of offensive charges (non-calls by refs), and has a deeper bench than you. With all those characteristics working against the Bucks, I thought it was fantastic that they got as far as they did.
In a pipe-dream moment of mine, I was hoping that the Bucks would make it far enough in the playoffs so they'd play the Suns again. Wouldn't it be inspiring to see all those Bucks fans 'greeting' Amare Soudemire back to the BC after his 'accident' with the Bucks' Andrew Bogut? I wasn't at THAT game, but I heard that the entire BC audience incessently booed Stoudemire EVERY time he touched the ball.
Having said all that, do you agree with me that Jennings should have been in Bibby's face more often? I thought it was pretty obvious.

Packers. kick returners are plentiful so lets see who is chosen. punters and place kickers are real specialists and rookies do not fare well. the drafted offensive linemen MUST produce now. Pretty good season last year to build on. a running back on third downs would be a plus.

The Pack needs a punter, a kick returner, a field goal kicker, and offensive linemen. Get all of that and they will win the Super Bowels!
