Tosa's Night Out
I encourage all of you to attend Tosa’s Night Out on Tuesday, August 4. The event kicks off at 4:00 p.m., followed by a concert at 5:30, a flashlight walk at 8:00, and fireworks at 9:30.
The kids will also enjoy games, a coloring contest and inflatable ride area set up especially for them. Parents will appreciate the Kid Care ID, safety displays, and health and wellness exhibits. Organizers also tell me there will be a car show and a visit from Ronald McDonald.
I take my wife and sons every year, and one of our favorite parts of the evening is the 1.5 mile flashlight walk. Those lights flickering against the evening sky send a powerful message that the people of Wauwatosa are uniting with law enforcement and saying ‘NO’ to crime in our community.
The event is free of charge, but if you decide to officially register for the flashlight walk, you’ll receive a commemorative t-shirt, flashlight, and other gifts. You can register at the Little Read Book Store at 7603 W. State Street during regular store hours, or download a registration form here. All proceeds will go to the Wauwatosa Neighborhood Watch Steering Committee, a non-profit group.
I hope to see you out there on Tuesday night, because keeping our streets safe is up to all of us.
