The Wizard of Obamacare: Pay NO attention to the man behind the curtain!

Health care, Legislation, President Obama, Government / Bureaucracy, Socialism / Marxism, TAXES, THE ECONOMY

In the story, The Wizard of Oz, there comes a time when Dorothy and the troubled trio return to the Great Oz, "a disembodied and imposing head with a booming voice," to reap their promised rewards.

While talking to the Great Oz, Toto pulls back the control room curtain to reveal an old man, a mere mortal, at the controls of the projection booth. Dorothy realizes that the Great OZ is nothing more than an artificial projected image created to impress the residents of the Emerald City. That is when Oz says that famous line, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

That is the fanciful story called The Wizard of Oz. The man behind the curtain is the reality; the projected imposing head isn't.

America's fantasy story is that the government can provide health care for everyone, including 12 million illegal aliens, and do it better than the private insurance industry can.* Oh, did I mention it wasn't supposed to bankrupt us?

The Emerald City had Oz; he made promises he couldn't keep. We have our our own wizard, The Wizard of Obmamacare, a.k.a. President Obama. Our Wizard is promoting and promising health care reform miracles.

There was no real Oz in the story. He was just an image controlled by a mere mortal, bound by the constraints of the real world.

There isn't any reality to The Wizard of Obamacare either. He may promise anything he wants, but his promises are still bound by the constraints of the health care bill H.R. 3200 as it is written. The bill is the man behind the curtain.

When asked a specific question regarding the outlawing of private insurance in section 102 of the bill, President Obama admitted, "You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about." He had not read all of the bill--not even that very imortant section.

It was after that stunning admission that he in effect inferred, Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain--the written bill. I say that because he later promised again, “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.”

Of course, our President has a tendency to say anything. Remember he also said that health care reform would reduce costs. He also promised not to implement health care reform if it would result in higher deficits.

I am encouraged that some Representatives are balking at rushing into approving this devastating bill. I am concerned when I start hearing about compromise measures added to get the thing passed. Legislation of this magnitude needs to be carefully considered, not blindly approved. It needs to be scrapped, not amended.

In case you didn't realize, Toto in my Wizard of Obamacare story is anyone taking the time to read and find out what HR 3200 actually says. Totos would include the legislators who take time to read the actual bill, talk radio hosts and conservative bloggers who delve into the details, and now even some media is pulling back the curtain.

Dorothy could be the American public and Congress who are losing confidence in the Wizard of Obamacare and the Wizard of Obamaeconomics. I hope the Dorothys wake up before it is too late.

Contact your Representative!

*Does health care need reform? YES. But it is not an all or nothing proposition needing to be approved by Aug. 8th or anytime soon!

  1. had to comment, I don't mind educating you on the term red lining, seeing how you have no knowledge of real estate. The term red lining came about when democrats looked at a map of where most loans in a community were being granted or placed. They then took a red pen and drew out an area on the map and termed it red lining. The areas of a city where loans were not being placed ore even considered.

Kind of simple logic but then again I think you might have a problem with that also. So I do not mind helping you out. Maybe some day you might change and become a conservative thinker and do what is right instead of what is left .

Your a typical democrat liberal that wants to attack the person and not the subject matter. I am sure you are also for shutting down conservative talk radio because of the way they expose stupid democratic ideas and performance.
  2. Nail Bender....do you even know the definition of "red lining" ? Talk about real estate ignorant. Honestly....your comments really show your colors....or whiteness.
  3. Had to comment, why do you think banks did red lining, there not stupid, make a loan to some one you know won't pay it, come on give me a break. You want to justify cave people should have a right to live off of the rest of people that earn a living and not survive by entitlement. Typical lefty making those that work and achieve support those that just don't want to do anything. All our lives are the result of decisions we are selves have made, street people want that life. Poor people want children having children, five different fathers in one family with none of them living there or supporting the illegitimacy of it all.

It goes on and on, the liberal left just encourages it all the time. Your ignorance of the real estate market is really evident in the way you speak about it. Don't continue to show your ignorance by making uneducated comments. Have a nice day, I think you need one.
  4. No Nail Bender....I'm not missing the point. I get the point. I just don't buy into blaming those loans for the whole economic mess. I know people like you want to blame the poor for their situation but what's really sad is when you blame them for wealthy peoples problems too. Wow these poor people are powerful. For you to think it was that simple tells me something. So all that speculative real estate investment in all those very wealthy real estate markets also collapsed because of those "cave" people? Those "cave" people drove the costs of those luxury condos in Florida through the roof? All around the country in those high priced communities those prices were being dictated by "cave" people ? Remember....Republicans had the presidency and control of Congress for a period of time. Why didn't they make the changes then ? Maybe if banks did not red line in the first place nobody would have legislated them to do anything in the first place. Seriously.....think through things for yourself once before you just repeat what you're told to repeat. You have a nice day as well.
  5. Had to comment, you really are missing the point. Carter Clinton, FORCED , got that FORCED, lenders to loan to the cave people. Banks were being accused of red lining areas because they had no loans in those areas where the cave people lived. Banks were REQUIRED, yes REQUIRED by Clinton and Carter to make loans in those areas. That was all lefty legislation. Bush tried to get rid of it at least 8 times but your Dem's would not let the legislation go that would have changed the stupid mess the Democrats them selves made. This is first hand knowledge from our own beloved lenders at the time. I was heavily involved with the mess and it was enough to make even some one who voted for Clinton and Carter sick to their stomach. I sure as heck did not vote for them and never would.

Your knowledge on the subject has been infected by the liberal far left once again taking no responsibility for the mess they created, Fannie may another stupid idea to cover their democrat mistakes, kind of a useless discussion with some one who doesn't know what the facts are, just jaw boneing . I am so sorry that you have been infected with the Dem's entitlement drugs. Have a nice day.
  6. Nail Bender....those private businesses did not have to make loans that they knew would cause their businesses to collapse. I love how the hard core right wing can blame the left for anything that happens. Even the hurricane in New Orleans was the fault of the poor people living down there if you listen to those righties. Seriously....you listen....should I say follow....like a puppy dog....the nonsense spewed by an extreme group of people. Try just grinding through the news by yourself and using your own common sense to break down the information you are being fed. Maybe then your view points will once again be your own and a little fresher.
  7. Had to comment, the economy colapesd because of all the left wing mandates of giving people financing to purchase homes . These people are the ones that should be living in caves. Get educated on what really caused our problems, Carter and Clinton, your ever loving buddies of entitlement, far left lovers . People that never pay taxes. Just like Obama's personally selected appointees, owning taxes. Can't you just feel the love of the far left wanting to saddle those that pay taxes with even a greater burden. Your leader is as slippery as they come. Not good. Try the Heritage Foundation, very accurate information, good prescription for liberal people seeking psychotherapy . Have a nice day.
  8. El gato....since you have all the answers there is no need for the government to study any of this. They can just call you. I wish they would have gotten a hold of you for some advice before the economy collapsed under right wing leadership. You could have saved us from the whole fiasco. Now pack your bags and get to Washington. Save us all. Remember to take your book of answers with you.
  9. "Had to comment" should be "Have to get the facts". A typical uninformed Democrat who spews out opinions without any real data to back them up. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that you can't provide the quality healthcare we are used to for an additional 47 million people without huge cost increases. Don't want to pay for it? Then you have to reduce care by a proportional amount. If you think you're going to get it free because you're poor, you don't give a hoot about what it costs or who get screwed paying for you. Give it a rest or move to Canada, England, etc.!

Maybe before you decide our system isn't as cood as others, you should find out why. Could it be that malpractice suits, obesity, smoking, diet, environment, etc. could be affecting cost and life expectancy? This is what we'd expect the government to be studying, but they'd rather cobble together some half-baked plan that will be bad, bad, bad for the people. Now go pack your bags!
  10. Nail Bender.....why does Canada have a life expectancy almost 2 years longer then the US and spends about half per person on medical care ? Can you imagine how long they would live if they would raise their spending per person to a level near ours. You're being frightened by right wingers who are trying to keep the status quo because they are the messengers for the big operations who don't want the system changed.

Your other comments just echo the nonsense I constantly hear spewed by right wingers that shows a lack of balance in your view point. Come on....only right wingers pay taxes...it just completely discredits you when you say things like that.

Anyways.....I'm sure if you wanted national health care you would point to the fact that despite all the spending in the US...nearly double any other country ....we are way down the list on life expectancy and infant mortality. Now those two statistics really tell you something. Since you don't want national health care I'm sure you will come up with something that will trivialize these two statistics that really make you'rearguments kind of silly....yet you will still argue against a national health care system. If it sucks so bad then why doe the average person live longer in these countries and why do babies survive better ? Open your mind Nail Bender.
