1940s Berlin, an 8 year old boy must move out of the city because his Nazi father got a promotion. Neither the boy, Bruno, or his mother understand that Bruno's father is in charge of an extermination camp.

I think stories about the Holocaust and Nazi Germany cannot be told enough. Obviously there are those in the world who don't believe there was a holocaust--Iran comes to mind. But we also have a generation of Americans who don't really believe it ever happened either. I know of 2 men, one an Elmbrook graduate, who think it was an exaggerated event at best.

The film is given the Dove Foundation Family Approved rating of age 12+

People often think something like that cannot happen here. I am not so sure. Germany was suffering from economic melt down when Hitler came to power. It was said you needed a bushel basket of money just to purchase a loaf of bread. The public was looking at someone to blame. They picked the Jews.

When our economy started heading south, I wondered if illegals would be blamed for our economic woes. Another possibility is Christians. There needs to be an identifiable scapegoat. Before you start shaking your head too vigorously, note that the Christians were portrayed as a dangerous group in David Zucker's An American Carol movie. David did it

Christians' freedom of speech rights are severely taking a hit too. In Colorado it is unlawful to quote certain Bible verses. This month's issue of Truth & Triumph cover  features "The Most Dangerous People in America" according to the ACLU, Christians.

We've seen the video of the little children singing to Obama. The comparisons are made between the style of Hitler addressing crowds in Nuremberg and Obama's appeal. People voted for change and are looking for instant solutions. When those solutions are not forth coming, people will be looking for someone to blame. It will be some segment of our society.

I am not suggesting Sen. Obama is Hitler, but only that the mood of the country is simialr.

I am glad this story is being told.We can never forget what happened in Hitler's Germany. The question is, will we learn from their mistakes.
