NASA STUDENT SYMPOSIUM WINNERS
Congratulations to Frankie Ragonese and Molly Carrig for qualifying to present at the NASA Explorer School's third annual Student Symposium. The girls conducted an investigation that focused on how to protect delicate instruments that are dropped onto different planets and presented it virtually to a panel of NASA personnel. They were invited to the NES National Student Symposium to be held in Houston this May. They will travel with Mrs. Biernat to present their investigation findings to NASA personnel and other students attending the event. Thirty schools, each with one team, were invited to the symposium. This two-day event will feature an astronaut presentation, facility tours, student activities and a career awareness panel.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT POSTER CONTEST

To place emphasis on the special Safe Environment month and to supplement Safe Environment teaching in the classrooms and religious education programs, the Archdiocese Office for Safe Environment will hold a poster contest. The theme is Human Dignity. Human dignity is the foundation of all our moral values in society and therefore is at the core of all safe environments.

To participate, children and youth should create a poster reflecting what human dignity and safe environments mean to them.  Any medium may be used and poster size must be on paper sized 11x17 or larger.

Possible poster themes include the following:
* Respecting others
* Showing dignity and caring toward one another
* Clear boundaries with one another (knowing your comfort zone)
* Good communication (talk, share, listen)
* Right relationships
* Honesty
* Dependability and commitment
* Patience

Posters will be judged by age group. The age groups for the contest are as follows:
K4  - 2nd grade
3rd - 5th grade
6th - 8th grade

Posters must be addressed to the Safe Environment Office and mailed or dropped off at the Cousins Center, 3501 S Lake Dr, Milwaukee, WI 53207 no later than April 21st, 2012. Please make sure that each entry includes name, grade, parish and/or school.
