Brookfield City News
Cindy moved to Brookfield in 1994 with her husband and three children in tow. It's been a very interesting seventeen years.
Well that settles that
I'm not going to run.
I called City Hall today to see who all had declared intent in my district, and the answer was no one. That was an interesting response given that the 2nd district incumbent Rick Owen was out collecting signatures this weekend.
The law states a form for intent is to be filed prior to collecting signatures. No, the law doesn't have much in the way of teeth, but honestly? It reminds me how much some of our repesentatives in local government like to pretend the rules aren't for them. It's really hard to fight a group of insiders who do that. I'm just not up for the battle these days.
I'm ok with this decision. I'm really content with all I do now. What grieves me a bit are the folks who were counting on me to run. (You know who you are.) I'm sorry. But it's best to decide now and let someone else come forward than wait expecting me there with no time to recruit another. Although, I'm pretty sure so few people are watching local government these days I doubt he'll have a challenger.
And Rick! You just keep on pretending the rules are for those dweebs that aren't quite as special as you.
