Brookfield City News

Cindy moved to Brookfield in 1994 with her husband and three children in tow. It's been a very interesting seventeen years.

Meetings for the week starting July 18

There are actually a lot of meetings this week. HRPS is meeting for "Discussion and possible action regarding the administrative and employee relations impact of 2011 Wisconsin Act 10 and 2011 Wisconsin Act 32." Sadly, that agenda is always worded so poorly there's a good chance it wouldn't stand up to court challenge. It's supposed to give a reasonable person an idea of the topic of "discussion and possible action." Do you have any idea how big that bill was? It could mean pretty much anything.

Also, the Parks department is active again with a public hearing to amend the 2035 master plan in regards to open spaces. This is planning to change the planning that wasn't thoroughly planned in the first place but can always be amended later if more planning suggests it.

That's the Brookfield way.

There's also a Common Council meeting on Tuesday. The item that perked my attention?

20.   Introduction of the Ordinance redistricting the boundaries of the Aldermanic Districts and approving of said plan and establishing polling places.  * No action *

That's right. There are new wards and districts ready to be implemented. I haven't seen the maps, and though I asked they are not available to share here, but they exist. I have been told one alderman will find a line that keeps him from running for re-election. Yes, I know which one, but I figure we better leave something for a real reporter to write. (Besides, I'm pretty neutral on that one anyway. I know, I know. You think I have an opinion on everything, but not really.)

That's it for now. It looks to be a fabulous week of summer on tap. Yes, I love the hot weather. I hope it doesn't inconvenience any of you too much.
