Brookfield City Clerk to retire mid-August
City of Brookfield Clerk Kristine Schmidt will call August 19th her last day. She's finally going to enjoy a retirement.
I don't know how long she's been there, or what her thoughts are, or even her plans, so I'll tell you the bit I do know: She's done a fine job over the years.
Unless you've spent a little time on the inside, you really don't know all the City Clerk manages in Brookfield. Want to tend bar? See Kris. Need a dog license? That's her office. Minutes from 1969, reports on landfills in Brookfield, who was elected, who resigned, how many votes, how many voting wards, rules on a dozen election activities, trash pick up days, registering to vote, and recycling bins can all be found through her.
In the last few years she undertook the video recording of meetings. She also gets agendas, minutes, and packet materials to the internet. She never let herself stagnate in the job.
Most of you know I have a great fondness for Kris. We share a favorite store - Chico's, a love of travel, and the oft used phrase: This too shall pass.
I hope she enjoys her last few weeks. I really hope she enjoys her retirement.
