BeBop and Barbecue
On Saturday May 14th, Mr. Jason Gillette and the student musicians of the Brookfield Central High School Jazz Bands will proudly and joyfully present the Fourth Annual BeBop and Barbecue, an inter-generational presentation of music, food and community.
There are few things that can unite and create common ground as rapidly and effectively as good music, and this wonderful event gives evidence to that reality. Founded by Jason's vision of a production that would bring people of all ages together, this fundraiser has grown in stature, profile, and attendance each year. It is produced by the efforts of students, faculty, and parents.
Held at Brookfield Central High School, the BeBop and Barbecue is a spectacular event. The fine arts programs in all of our schools are hallmarks, and the bands and ensembles of Central are superb. Their success is the result of the talent and dedication of the students, and the masterful direction and training they receive from Jason Gillette. Jason is an accomplished musician in his own right, but more importantly, he is an exemplary educator; a man who pours himself into his students each year to develop their talent, their character, and their citizenship. He looks for ways to pour those students and their talents back into our community, and this annual event is a great way to do just that.
The evening will feature live music, a Kansas City style barbecue dinner, dancing, swing lessons, raffles, prizes, and a chance to have fun with residents, neighbors and friends from all age groups. Last year's BeBop was an enormous success with attendance in the hundreds; the kind of event that helps make this a pretty neat place to live. Tickets for the BeBop and Barbecue are $12.00 for seniors and those under twenty one, and $20.00 for all others.
Tickets can be obtained by contacting Brookfield Central High School at 785-3910, or Jason Gillette directly at gillettj@elmbrookschools.org.
Come on out if you can next Saturday for a night of fun, music, and community.
